Sagittarius Solar Eclipse – Dec 4, 2021

The New Moon is in Sagittarius and is also an eclipse.

Sagittarius is the truth seeker. To seek its truth it must get lost in a different country, sit with masters and gurus, debate with the highest academics, connect with God, a higher intelligence, or a path to enlightenment. As this is a south node eclipse, it is calling on us to let go of the lower forms of Sagittarius – self-righteousness, dismissing others’ beliefs, preparing what to say in your head, and not listening to what the other person is saying. Fortunately, as the sun is blocked by the moon, a moment of silence happens and listening is the result!

The Sabian symbol for this eclipse is “a widow’s past brought to light”. This speaks of unfinished business coming up so that we can move on. Maybe we see the truth of who the spouse was. In our grief he or she was perfect, but now we can say… Ya! he was a jerk, ya! She was controlling. The truth comes into the light and helps us to accept and move on. This happens, not just in relationships, but in all areas where we have experienced a loss that stops us from moving on.

This new moon eclipse has other aspects that support this idea of coming to terms with the truth. The first is that it is conjunct Mercury. Mercury helps us to seek knowledge and expand our worldview. It helps us to be curious and open to other ideas. The eclipse is also on the great attractor. The great attractor is not a planet, but a point in the heavens… it’s a black hole in the Laniakea Supercluster. The Great Attractor gets its name because, like a magnet, it draws everything in toward including the milky way, which also obstructs it. To see what’s there other frequencies like infrared are needed. This points to what is needed at this eclipse. A different frequency allows us access to the great unseen mysteries  – with the eclipse currently at this point, they are flooding in… but at what pole of the magnet are we operating? Are we attracting or repelling?  Seek out ways of raising your vibration to operate at the attraction pole, like meditation, sitting by the seaside, interacting with your plants, practicing gratitude, and singing. Like the door in the closet to Narnia, this may open up an entirely new world… and world view!

The new moon eclipse is also on Huya. Huya’s namesake is the Wayuu rain god (the Wayuu are indigenous people from the Venezuelan and Bolivian areas). She is associated with abundance and environmentalism. This eclipse also calls on us to view the truth of abundance and our natural world. Mother earth is considered sacred in the worldview of the Wayuu indigenous peoples. So much so that t they inspired a law…Law of the Rights of Mother Earth. The rights include the right:

  • To life: It is the right to the maintenance of the integrity of life systems and natural processes which sustain them, as well as the capacities and conditions for their renewal
  • To the Diversity of Life: It is the right to the preservation of the differentiation and variety of the beings that comprise Mother Earth, without being genetically altered, nor artificially modified in their structure, in such a manner that threatens their existence, functioning, and future potential
  • To water: It is the right of the preservation of the quality and composition of water to sustain life systems and their protection with regards to contamination, for renewal of the life of Mother Earth and all its components
  • To clean air: It is the right of the preservation of the quality and composition of air to sustain life systems and their protection with regards to contamination, for renewal of the life of Mother Earth and all its components
  • To equilibrium: It is the right to maintenance or restoration of the inter-relation, interdependence, ability to complement and functionality of the components of Mother Earth, in a balanced manner for the continuation of its cycles and the renewal of its vital processes
  • To restoration: It is the right to the effective and opportune restoration of life systems affected by direct or indirect human activities
  • To live free of contamination: It is the right for preservation of Mother Earth and any of its components with regards to toxic and radioactive waste generated by human activities~ wikipedia.org

What else do the indigenous peoples of the world say about the abundance and the environmental needs of the earth? At this new moon eclipse, it’s time to listen.

Happy Solar Eclipse.

Taurus Lunar Eclipse – Nov 19, 2021

The Full Moon on November 19 is also a lunar eclipse. This eclipse opens the eclipse window and unleashes the changes that eclipses always do.  The best approach is to respond to situations. Anything that is decided at an eclipse is a done deal… there’s no going back.

The eclipse is at 27 degrees of Taurus and is conjunct the asteroids Phaethon and Sedna.

Taurus is the sign of value; money, assets, and personal value. It’s the earth sign that has a deep connection with the land; gardening, farming, and environmental concerns. At this full moon eclipse, something comes to light regarding our valuables or our value and we come face to face with the need to secure, protect and stand up for those things that matter to us.

Phaethon represents reckless behaviour, usually stemming from a place of needing to prove something to others. In the myth, Phaethon’s father let Phaethon drive his chariot so that Phaethon could prove that he was his father. Zeus saw that he was driving like a crazy person and causing mayhem, and shot him out of the sky stopping him from doing more damage. This energy speaks of an authority taking charge to stop damage. It’s also the need to recognize that our need for approval can harm us.

Sedna is about staying true to yourself (she is rejected and punished for her choices). It’s about being betrayed (her father throws her overboard to save his own life) and finding power and purpose out of a crappy situation (she lands on the bottom of the sea and becomes the goddess of the sea). It’s about taking responsibility, making the best of a situation, and becoming powerful within it.

In all three the theme is “value”. Taurus brings up the topic of our value. Phaethon says trying to prove our value to others can get us hurt. Sedna says that we have power and value even if others don’t see it or treat us that way.

The Sabian symbol for this degree is “a mature woman reawakened to romance”…. and again the topic of value emerges. She doesn’t feel the need to be skinny, youthful, sexy, or to prove her worth… she is mature and knows her inner worth. She feels safe to open up knowing that her recognized value and maturity will attract someone of value.

But knowing, standing up for, and going after our value will not be an easy thing at this full moon eclipse. The moon is opposite mercury in intense and sometimes manipulative Scorpio. There will be a struggle between our heart and our head. The light of the moon gets blocked at the eclipse, blocking for a few short hours our connection with our heart and causing us to listen a little too much to the powerful and intellectual, and deeply researched words of mercury. However, this is a north node lunar eclipse, so the more we follow our heart, the more we move in the right direction. We have some other supports – the moon is trine pluto, giving us the personal power we need, and its sextile Neptune, giving us access to intuition if we choose to listen. These connections will also be momentarily lost while the moon is eclipsed, but that can help us to see them ever more clearly when they return.

Happy Taurus Lunar Eclipse!

Warning: eclipses are powerful, so if you choose to do a full moon ceremony, know that a great deal of power may be unleashed.

Aries Full Moon – Oct 20, 2021

Full Moon in Aries – Oct 20, 2021

The Full Moon is at 27 degrees of Aries. The Sabian symbol for the moon is ‘a large disappointed audience’. The Sabian symbol speaks of expectations. The audience expects something that is not delivered. Maybe they were misled to think they would get one thing and got another; false advertising. Or they thought they would get more but for one reason or another, the person on the stage fell short. Perhaps something happened out of the blue – a power outage or equipment issues, a rainstorm in an outdoor arena, or an unexpected illness leaving the performer unable to deliver. It’s out of their control, but that doesn’t stop the audience from not being happy! The performer, politician, speaker… whoever it is that is in front of the audience is now called to account, to be responsible, to make good.

We’ve all been in this situation either on the stage or in the audience. It can be dealt with gracefully and humbly – promises of refunds, extra added on, apologies, and other amends. It can also be dealt with poorly – disappearing acts, blame, and even retaliation. How the person in the spotlight responds will make all the difference at this full moon. The moon is conjunct Eris and opposite mars and square to Pluto, making it not just a disappointed audience, but an angry, vengeful, and volatile one too.

Eris is a dwarf planet that is a shit disturber. Like her namesake, she tosses the golden apple and says “who is the fairest”? She incites division, competition, and war. What is the golden apple in your life? Political parties? Mandates? Opinions about injections? Whatever has been thrown between you to divide you, rolls in front of your feet and you will need to decide how to act. The best advice is to disengage, rise above and refuse the discord. Love… even if you are excluded or not chosen or feel slighted. Don’t let your hurt or ego get in the way.

The ruler of the moon is Mars. Mars in Libra is debilitated. The debilitation causes Mars to be indecisive on one hand, but if squeezed and pressured as it is right now, it can bring about an over-the-top need to fight for justice. It’s conjunct the sun and the fixed star Spica which will help to counter any indecision. Decisions made now may be good, but they may also be rash and foolish. Don’t be afraid to act fearing you will make a mistake. Even a mistake can create an unexpected opportunity…. In the word of Miles from the movie Risky Business “Every now and then say, “What the fuck.” “What the fuck” gives you freedom. Freedom brings opportunity. Opportunity makes your future.

The full moon also has helpful energy. Mars is also trine to Jupiter. Jupiter is in Aquarius expanding group energy, altruism, but also disruption and change. It brings action, optimism, and justice to matters of the people, for the people, and with the people. Find a group where you belong and resolve to make a difference.

Lastly, full moons are always about culminations. Aries is a fire sign, so use the element of fire for the ceremony – release anything that needs to go!

Happy Full Moon!
