Horoscope: April 24 – 30, 2017

April 24 – 30

Checkpoint

What to expect: Slowing down to check
What to watch out for: Crisis in Belief
What will it affect? Structures, thoughts, beliefs

Mercury is retrograde this week and making some important contacts. On Monday, April 24th it connects nicely with Saturn. It’s made this connection before earlier this month, and now as it moves backward over the same point, it’s checking for grammar, spelling, and punctuation. It’s checking for flaws in reason and leaps in logic to make sure that our thoughts, words and plans all make sense. What areas of our lives need a review? Contracts? Our writing? This time is best used for critically reviewing, revising and reformulating.

Mercury is also squaring Vesta challenging our intellect versus our spiritual conviction. Worldviews may be challenged bringing us some existential angst. Working with an ontological coach or therapist can help you sort through it.

Why? Mercury Trine Saturn, Mercury Square Vesta

New Moon in Taurus

What to expect: Slowing down to check
What to watch out for: Crisis in Belief
What will it affect? Structures, thoughts, beliefs

The New Moon in Taurus on Wednesday, April 26th is asking us to clear the land, fertilize the soil and sink elbow deep into the dirt to plant our intended creations. This New Moon is welling up emotion within us as the New Moon connects with our inner mother. Some us will feel nostalgic, others loss and others protective. We want to keep our loved ones close and may feel a little possessive. Our inner mother is asking us to set intentions for connecting to what is nurturing. How would we like our family to look? How do nurture ourselves and our loved ones? Plan your homestead garden, lay out the plans for your home, decide who’s in and who is out regarding your inner circle. Remember we can’t choose the families we are born into but can intend to create the family we desire and deserve.

Why? New Moon at 6°Taurus

Choosing a path

What to expect: Sorting through ideas
What to watch out for: Scattered energy
What will it affect? Ideas, communication, partnerships

On April 28th Mercury meets up with Uranus at the same degree. We are back to our review. Take all of the great ideas or flashes of insight that you’ve had over the last three months and review them for merit. Which will work? Which are just plain hare-brained? Which would you choose if you were stranded on an island with only enough gas in your boat to get you to one other island? This energy is the entrepreneurial sign of Aries, we may be rearing to go, but the problem is that we may have too many ideas and too many paths to take and must commit to one. Now is the time to take a look at all paths and review the pros and cons of pursuing each.

Venus will move back into Aries on the same day. We can connect with partners and may even feel a need to rush into ventures. Rush in too soon, and we can miss important details. Being too aggressive can create costly mistakes. Slow down and allow for the cat and mouse game – It not only has the value of creating an exciting chase but also providing us with valuable information for our review.

Why? Mercury Conjunction Uranus, Venus Entering Aries

Tricksters

What to expect: A good belly laugh
What to watch out for: Triggered insecurities
What will it affect? Authority, self-master, healing

The energy pattern changes on April 28th when the north node moves into Leo. The North Node in Leo moves us into energy that focuses on creativity, leadership, self-mastery for the next 1.5 years.

As the energy moves into Leo, it also makes a square to Ceres in the Taurus/Gemini cusp. Ceres in Taurus tends to be nostalgic, holding close traditional values, yet as we cross this boundary; it challenges us to test boundaries. Trickster energy emerges that openly mocks and challenges authority. We are acting like bugs bunny, the Joker in Batman, or the trickster in any Shakespeare play. We are seeking to upset the story, move the plot along, foiling the plans of the protagonist and in so doing bring both complications to the story, but also levity. We find ourselves amused at the absurdity of life and nurturing ourselves with a good belly laugh.

The nodal square to Ceres also plays into a larger energy pattern at play. Saturn and Chiron will square exactly on April 30th, so the trickster energy on the world stage takes the form of challenging hierarchical structures and social convention. It’s likely just as amusing, but also serves to deepen the plot of the energy of Saturn square Chiron which is challenging us to break from authority. Saturn has us focusing on laws, religion, higher learning, media and the military. Chiron, currently in Pisces has us wanting to heal water, marine life, and underground resources. These two have us focusing on what is truth and what is illusion that we need to heal. We may see the archetypal tricksters playing a significant role this week. Robin-hood stealing from the rich to give to the poor; the Native American raven or coyote tricking and taking what he pleases, but entertaining in the midst; Russel Brand cleverly poking politicians, media, and academia; the internet troll stirring up insecurities. The hero is tricked, or it may be the villain. But with the larger energy of Saturn and Chiron at play, it is sure to search a higher purpose of healing and reshaping authority.

Why? North Node enters Leo, North Node square Ceres, and Saturn square Chiron

Horoscope: April 17 – 23, 2017

April 17 – 23

Redefining Beliefs and Freedoms

What to expect: Focused work
What to watch out for: challenging relationship
What will it affect? Relationships, beliefs, travel, education, diplomatic relations and the status quo

Monday starts with lots of focus as the Sun makes a trine to Saturn. Saturn has been in Sagittarius cleaning up all things Sagittarius. In our personal lives it’s been cleaning up our beliefs, philosophies and in the world as a whole – foreign affairs, diplomatic relations, travel, religion, and education. With the sun making a trine to it, we can focus on tackling some of the needed work in these areas. Our concentration is good. So is our attention to detail. So if we want to make headway on the lessons of Saturn and incorporate them into a plan of action, now is the time to do it.

On the same day, Jupiter makes a square to Juno; traditional partnerships are challenged. The structure of committed long-term partnerships or business partnerships are called into question. There is a push for fairness and balance and need to incorporate new beliefs which include freedom.

Why? Sun Trine Saturn, Jupiter Square Juno

Tackling the Details

What to expect: Working well with groups
What to watch out for: Speaking without thinking
What will it affect? Communication, egos, groups, power structures

On April 19th the sun moves into Taurus encouraging us to spend the next month plodding away at the details. As it moves into Taurus, it also meets up with Mercury, putting the focus on the details of communication, contracts and even travel. It’s a productive week, but with Mercury still in retrograde motion, our time is best spent on review. The good news is that these two are also making a trine to the North Node. Get together with your team, tribe, and power-group and use the brainpower of the group to tackle the task. You will find that you are on the same page and that you will get a lot done.

On April 20th Mercury will retrograde back into Aries inspiring our courage to speak. We can be assertive, but with Pluto going retrograde the same day, aggressive actions may be the standard of the day. Stay level headed. Sometimes we are right, but our thoughts, words, and actions done without forethought and diplomacy can set us backward. Take the time to think through your words.

Why? Sun Entering Taurus, Sun Conjunction Mercury, Mercury Trine Transiting North Node, Sun Trine Transiting North Node, Mercury Entering Aries, and Pluto Retrograde

Certain of our Values

What to expect: Letting go
What to watch out for: Loneliness
What will it affect? Relationships, motivations, wounds, self-care, direction

On April 21st there is a lot going on. Venus, now in a direct motion will square Saturn. These two have been in close contact for awhile. While Venus was retrograde earlier in the month, it also squared Saturn, unearthing our real values, and encouraging us to deal with loose ends and karmic connections, now with Venus direct and connecting again with Saturn, the soul-searching continues. This time we are more clear and confident in our understanding and our decisions. We may decide for good that the relationships that no longer serve us are done and feel good about it. It may feel lonely, but the space created in so doing leaves room for something greater and more positive to enter.

Mars enters Gemini the same day, filling us with a desire and motivation to learn. It also makes a square to the North Node, and so we feel motivated to break from ideas that hold us back. If we’ve been flakey about our direction, we now feel motivated to get more practical and leave behind the daydreams.

There is also a mini trine at play that is working with our wounds. It’s providing us with a consistent and reliable nurturing energy, and that’s what we need right now.
It’s helping us to work through our wounds with a warm spiritual and nurturing hug.

Why? Chiron Sextile Ceres, Chiron Trine Vesta, Vesta Sextile Ceres, Venus Square Transiting Saturn, Mars Entering Gemini, Mars Square Transiting North Node

Horoscope: April 10 – 16, 2017

April 10 – 16

Libra Full Moon

What to expect: Focus on relationships
What to watch out for: Fights
What will it affect? Relationships, social change, laws, business partnerships

The Full Moon on April 10th is in Libra at 21 degrees. The Moon in Libra is seeking balance and fairness. Libra is also the sign of connection. Ruled by Venus, it’s often in love with love and feels incomplete without relationships. But, as always at the full moon, the Moon is opposite the Sun. The Sun is in Aries forging new frontiers, ready for action and putting others things before relationships. So it should be no surprise at this full moon that we have a strong focus on relationships and relationship conflict/balance. Whatever is at the heart of it, this Full Moon wants to bring it to a head and a culmination.

The Libra Moon wants us to remember the honeymoon period, bringing us back to the original honeymoon period. Think about Adam and Eve, hanging out in their beautiful garden – that connection before the original fight. What was it like? Now is the time we can remember that innocence. That time before we projected all of our shame, guilt, and accumulated all of our mistakes.

Also at the full moon is Uranus who’s been in Aries for a while, stirring up revolutions, fights for freedom and sincerely desiring change. It brings the moon energy into it the larger social context. So partnerships on a large scale come into focus. How do men and women relate, partner and find balance? It’s not a simple question. It brings in gender parity, employment equity, equal pay, marriage and all other gender imbalances currently seeking balance.

Why? Full Moon at 21° Libra, Mars Conjunction Ceres, Uranus Square Vesta, Sun Conjunction Uranus

Desire for Impact

What to expect: Focus on impact
What to watch out for: Ego clashes
What will it affect? Work, motivations, social causes

On April 14th and 15th we’ll have a little prep work for what’s coming on the weekend. Mars makes a gentle angle to Vesta igniting our passions and turning up the volume on our desire for making an impact. The only problem is that the Sun which represents our egos will also square Vesta, so egos might get in the way. Where do you find the agreement and the common ground in the midst of common purpose? Find this, and you will find the way through.

Why? Mars Sextile Vesta, Sun Square Vesta

Healing the Feminine

What to expect: Powerful healing energy
What to watch out for: Too much too soon
What will it affect? Relationships, original wounds

Venus goes Direct on April 15th. It’s been retrograding for 40 plus days, taking us into a search for what we value. It started off by focusing on what we value in ourselves and then taking us deeper into the waters of the unconscious to clean out some karma or outdated/loose ends. It stops at 26 Degrees of Pisces and then spins to move forward again.

Venus is joined up with Chiron at this point and makes a sextile to mars. It’s a sexy combination and with Venus in spiritual and emotional Pisces and Mars in tactile earthy Taurus. The added energy of Chiron brings in a healing/awakening energy. This is the kind of energy that may awaken your Kundalini; the energy set at the base of your spine that is said to take you to a higher level of consciousness and even psychic ability. But raising your Kundalini comes with a big warning. It’s powerful energy that can throw you off kilter. Can you face all of your wounds and crap all at once, in the midst of intimacy and spiritual connection? It’s meant to be a deeply healing energy, but one that is intended to for those who are prepared, have done “the work” and who are emotionally and spiritually ready. If you are not ready for this kind of energy, this is an excellent time to get ready. Deep wounds can be healed right now. Relationships can be repaired. Not only in our personal lives, but also on a higher, more social level. But take it slow.

Why? Venus Direct, Venus conjunct Chiron, Mars Sextile Chiron and Venus
