New Moon in Virgo

The New Moon on Sept 19th is a powerful one! The New Moon happens at the 28th degree of Virgo. The Sabian symbol for that degree is “A bald-headed man dominates gathering of national figures”. On the same day, Venus will be at 29 degree’s of Leo, triggering the solar eclipse New Moon of Aug 21, 2017. This energy brings up again the question of leadership. The guard is changing, but this may not be an easy process. Leaders in place may push their agenda especially if they are not interested in seeing a new type of leadership. But Virgo is a very different kind of leader. Virgo is the Servant Leader – Servant Leaders are characterized by listening, empathy, healing, self-awareness, and things like stewardship instead of selfish spending, and persuasion instead of force. As we shift to this new model of leadership at this New Moon we may find ourselves reacting to an overbearing old leadership model. The New Moon sits opposite Chiron bringing up a collective wound. We may feel angry. But let your anger only serve to you to help you formulate New Moon intentions that focus on the building up this new leadership model!

Mercury, Mars, and Venus are all now moving through Virgo and that means they will also oppose the slow moving planet Neptune, currently sitting across for Virgo at around 12 – 13 degrees Pisces. Neptune has been in Pisces for a while, and in that sign has brought us into a very spiritual time. But spirituality has its light and shadow aspects and now through the end of the month, we will see some of those shadowy aspects emerge. As mercury opposes Neptune on the 19th and we can be sure a calculated lie will be told. It may be told with the practical in mind. Like the kinds of lies we tell to kids when we want to get them to do something we want. Or it could be something that comes through the arts, feels entertaining but throws us into confusion or disillusion. Think of the Mentalist using the “five senses to create a so-called a sixth sense”, but in reality, playing with your mind at a subconscious level to manipulate responses. Sit with any confusion you are experiencing, or even set as part of your New Moon intention, the desire for clarity and the truth.

On Sept 21st the Sun will give a big hug to Ceres, making us feel nurtured and comforted. This is a nice break from the New Moon and it puts us in a good mood. It also helps our conversation to love and inspiring when on Sept 22nd Mercury will trine Pluto. This is a good time to negotiate, make a speech, research or investigate. We’ll be able to reach a depth in our communication that we normally would not. By the 23rd Venus will make a trine to Juno and the good feelings continue, this time with our partnerships. Both Venus and Juno are in earth signs so there is a practical realization, maybe that our values are now well matched or that there is an ease that is created from a stream of stability.

A Moment of Lethargy

What will it affect? Motivation, quality of work

Mars opposes Neptune on Sept 24th and we feel that deception again. This time we also may feel a lack of motivation. Laziness may take over us causing us to miss details or fluff off our responsibilities. The deception may come from someone trying to fluff off their accountability or responsibility. If you have employees, now is the time for the check-in. Make sure to ask lots of questions!

Sept 11 – 17

New Directions

What to expect: Re-evaluation
What to watch out for: holding on to things that no longer work
What will it affect? Work, Relationships, Childhood wounds

Our causes come into questions for much of the first part of the week. What do we stand for? Why are we doing it? Does it still matter? We may have joined a cause and felt with all of our being that this was the thing that mattered, that would make a difference, that had the potential to fulfill a part of our mission and purpose. This week as Chiron opposes Vesta we call all of that into question. Maybe we no longer feel the same about that wound that was driving us in that direction. As we lose or heal our anger about something, we also lose the passion.

Venus will trine Saturn at the 12th adding some practicality to our value system. We budget and take account of what we truly value and sometimes it means that something drops off our budget or gets directed into something else that truly matters. Don’t worry if it seems like an about-face. Venus will also conjunct the North Node making sure that our decisions are fortunate and taking us in the right direction.

Removing Blockages

What will it affect? Self-concept, relationships, childhood wounds

On September 13th, we encounter our first test. Sun will square Saturn making it likely that difficulties will arise. Difficulties can sometimes make us feel that we’ve taking the wrong turn. If it’s the right direction, shouldn’t it be easy?

Communication in our relationships will be a priority as Mercury trines Juno the marriage asteroid. We are looking for again for practical solutions and talking it out with others will help us come up with a plan. As we move further into the week on the 14th Chiron will trines Ceres, bringing up some childhood wounds that can now be healed. Maybe these are the source of our perceived blockages? Chiron is in Pisces and is also connecting us to our collective wounds around parenting and nurturing. Parenting was a whole different ball game in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Parental expectations; how much they were there for us; were too involved in their own lives or were they too involved in our lives. Different generations had different parenting styles and problems! Often the next generation took on the job of “doing it differently” only to add a different kind of wound! Now is the time when we can look at those lessons learned and try again for something better.

Good Investments

What will it affect? Money, relationships, projects, new directions

On September 15th Venus will sextile Jupiter. This is a great transit for holding a party or networking. It’s also great for investing. Venus is in Leo and with Jupiter in Libra, we can make some risky but balanced investments. Investments can include investments in financial deals, but also relationships. Mercury will also be conjunct Mars, making us very decisive and with these two in Virgo, we’ll work in a concentrated and quick manner without missing any of the detail. This is good news! The only drawback is that it is a sextile and with sextile, we often enjoy the energy without taking advantage of it!

Finding our Originality

What will it affect? Relationships, money, parental relationships

On Sept 17th, Uranus will square Ceres and Venus will trine Uranus. We find that we are rebelling against our early upbringing. Maybe it’s a result of something we healed and got clear about earlier in the week.  If you have never properly ‘individuated’ from your parents and family, now is the time it can happen. We break free from that unhealthy relationship and we move forward.Our family might not like it. There may be opposition. But it’s an important step for us that may have been blocking us from our purpose. With Venus trine to Uranus, we’ll make some seemingly unlikely connections, partnerships and financial deals that will take us in a new and positive direction. Whether they like it or not!

Sept 4 – 10

Mercury Direct

What to expect: Clear direction
What to watch out for: A bit of awkwardness
What will it affect? Communication, The recent eclipse story

On Sept 5th Mercury goes direct. It goes directly exactly on the recent eclipse point. Mercury moved briefly back into Leo and is now ready to head back into Virgo. But before it does, it has something to say related to the eclipse. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is “a mermaid emerging from the ocean”. For the last month, we have been going back over old ground. Reviewing, releasing and revising our inner map. While mercury was retrograde in Virgo, we may have cleaned out our closets, reviewed all our plans, checked anything missed on our check list and committed to getting it done and checked off. We were focused on our health… not just our physical health, but also our mental and emotional health. How was our diet, our exercise, our boundaries? What were we complaining about in our lives and how could we go about changing it, so we could stop? As it slipped back into Leo, we had a chance to review the last degrees of all Leo related. Our leadership, ego, pride, and power. Now as we emerge from this swim in the unconscious waters we are cleansed and clear. We know what to do, now all we need to do is find our feet! To do that, all we need to do is communicate our needs. Mercury in a direct motion will help us. It won’t happen immediately. We might be a little awkward at first. But we now have all the information and know-how needed.

Full Moon in Pisces

What to expect: An opportunity for guidance

What will it affect? culminations, relationships with ourselves, relationships with others, spirituality

On Sept 6th the Full Moon is at 13 degrees Pisces. This Full Moon has some difficult aspects with lots of support in the background.

The moon is within one degree of Neptune, also in Pisces. This makes it highly spiritual on one end and prone to delusion, fantasy, and denial on the other. Neptune and the Moon are also making a tense connection with Venus in Leo. Venus in Leo values being the centre of attention, her ego is a little large and she can get offended if not noticed. With the Moon in Pisces, we can be somewhat of a doormat emotionally, giving to everyone and writing emotional cheques that we may not have the resources to back up. With its connection to Venus in Leo, it’s also expecting some glory in return. Neptune also making this difficult aspect to Venus causes our perceptions to be completely off. Add to it that Venus is also square to Pallas throwing off our perceptions. We feel lost about who we are, who others are and what we want and need. The moon makes it even worse by making us extra sensitive and prone to hurt. The tendency will be to seek an escape. However, now is the time to put down the rose coloured glasses, say no to the drugs (especially the opioids) and keep your eye on the spiritual by-pass. The best approach is to get real! The Sun opposite the moon will help. The Sun is in reality based Virgo and making a helpful trine to Pallas common sense Taurus. If we focus our attention there, we can get some practical, grounding, reality based advice.

All of this sounds pretty tricky, but the angels are with us now. Ask them to help you see what’s real and they will. This is supported by Jupiter making a helpful sextile to the North Node. They want us to go in the right directions. But we have to ask! Part of the lesson of this Full Moon is to ‘lean not on our own understanding’. Learn to connect and trust your guidance system. Ask for help and once you’ve asked, keep your eye out and open us to the needed help!

Inner Transformation

What to watch out for: Opportunities
What will it affect? Relationships, direction, inner work

By the end of the week, we have some great energy for transformative experiences. Work with a coach or other practitioner focused on inner work and you’ll likely make a lot of ground. You can also work with your business partners and/or committed relationship partnership. You’ll feel grounded enough to allow for the sometimes scary independence and freedom needed to explore what needs change and transformation. All of this is happening in the earth elements, so we can arrive at some practical, goal oriented solutions that will help us achieve our desires. Either as individuals or as a partnership! Make use of crystals, plants, essential oils and respectful touch.
