Horoscope: April 9- April 15, 2018

April 9 – 15th

Redefining Leadership

What to expect: Review of leadership
What to watch out for: Power plays
What will it affect? Communication, strategy, children, nurturance needs

In John Gerzema’s book and TEDx Talk on The Athena Doctrine, he talks of the power of feminine values in leadership strategy. Included are values like nurturing, collaboration, reasonableness and empathy. As Mercury sextiles Pallas at the beginning of the week, we draw into our strategy a review of these types of feminine values within our leadership. Pallas also makes a sextile to Ceres in Leo and the wisdom of our children and their need for care come to the fore. With Mercury retrograding in Aries and making a trine to Ceres, the children’s needs are brought into the conversation. Ceres is still very close to the North Node in Leo and has been drawing in voices of youth in leadership. Their voices help us to do a major review of how we see ourselves, our personal freedom and our personal power.

This review is not without its challenges. The first challenge early this week is from Venus, whose values are now grounded in predictable, stubborn and at times inflexible Taurus, squaring the Nodes in Leo and Aquarius. Those values may be resistant to change and new leadership. The resistance may cause us to realize that it might be time to walk away from some relationships. The second challenge comes from the Sun in Aries, a sign that values freedom and independence, squaring Pluto in Capricorn. This creates a dynamic where the traditional establishment who may not like this expression of our freedom and personal power might flex its muscle to maintain power and control.

More than Ourselves

What to expect: Masculine/Feminine healing
What to watch out for: Opportunities for forgiveness
What will it affect? Relationships, spirituality, creativity, giving

Between April 10th and 14th, get ready to love and give! It’s all about service, generosity and creativity. It’s the kind of creativity that comes from being more than ourselves. First Mars and Venus move into a trine, bringing together the masculine and feminine. This is always a nice energy, usually generating fun, flirtation and relationship. But we have something more happening. Mars and Venus will together sextile Neptune causing our relationships to reach for the divine. In practices such as tantric sex, two come together and their synthesis creates a unity that brings them in touch with God. This astrological energy is much like the practice of Tantra. We join together and our togetherness creates a loving synergy. A spiritual union is achieved and from that spiritual union, the sparks of creativity, ready to love and give reaches out and is channeled into other outlets. Just what outlet do we send our love into? Let your creativity and passion carry you to the right project, event, charity or purpose. Venus and Mars are in earth signs and bring in a grounding and enduring energy to both our partnerships and creative outlets.

In another mini Grand Trine happening at the same time, Jupiter and Juno will trine and both will sextile Pluto. Jupiter has been traveling in Scorpio and has been educating us on the sexual inequalities, the #metoo movement and the abuses that involve power and sex. Jupiter is now retrograde and is going over some of the ground that had been uncovered. As Jupiter makes a trine to Juno, we have a chance to bring wholeness to the relationships between men and women, both on the personal and societal levels. Both Planets will pull in Pluto for some needed transformation, and eyes can be opened. If we’ve been trying to get through to someone, they may finally “get it” at this time.

Why? Venus Trine Mars, Venus Sextile Neptune, Mars Sextile Neptune, Jupiter Sextile Pluto, Jupiter Trine Juno, Pluto Sextile Juno

New Moon in Aries

What to expect: Renewed opportunity
What to watch out for: Letting it pass
What will it affect? New beginnings

I love the Sabian symbol for this New Moon on April 15th. “Through imagination, a lost opportunity is regained.”

Years ago, before Brexit, when having a British passport gave you access to the European Union and was desired, I had researched if I could get a British passport through my father who, though not British, has a British passport. I came to the conclusion that I could not get it. I’m not a lawyer, but I have an undergraduate degree in Law, which trained me to some extent in how to read legislation. So two years or so after I came to that conclusion, when a friend asked during a long morning walk,  “are you sure?” I decided to go back and look at it again. A funny thing happened. I realized that the Immigration Act was written in a way that only said who was ineligible, not who was eligible! Something went off in my head…. If I’m not ineligible, maybe I’m eligible. I could pay an immigration lawyer $1500 to find out. Or I could pay the $500 fee for the passport and take my chances. I opted to take my chances with less money. A week after sending in my application, I had a passport! At this New Moon, we have the potential for similar breakthroughs giving us an opportunity where one was once thought to be lost! The New Moon will be conjunct Uranus favouring breakthroughs and insights. Is there something that you once wanted and thought was forever lost? Now is the time to dust off the doubt and brainstorm possibilities! The New Moon is making an out of sign trine to Vesta in Capricorn, which helps to ground ideas and structure them for achievement.

Mercury will also go direct the same day. Finally we can move forward! With all this energy in Aries, expect to get propelled forward.

Why? New Moon at 26°Aries, Mercury direct

Horoscope: April 2- April 8, 2018

April 2 – 8

Excellence

What to expect: Precision
What to watch out for: Fear
What will it affect? Ambitions, communication, structures and things we are building

In the book Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcom Gladwell says that it takes 10,000 hours to achieve mastery in a field. This week we get in our hours! On April 2nd, Mars will conjunct Saturn, putting a focus on meticulousness. Saturn has been in Capricorn since late 2017 calling us into our excellence. If you are not yet the expert, Saturn’s job is to get you there. Saturn has been testing and refining us and refuses to let us be mediocre. Knowing this, we may experience fear. We fear not being good enough, or talented enough. The good news is that now if we put our head down and work, we begin to learn that “good” and “talent” are a product of putting in the work and investing our time.

Speaking of time, Saturn rules time and time can now feel like mud or quicksand. Everything is hard and laboured. Just keep this saying in your head: “no pain, no gain.” You don’t get hard abs without lots of sweat busting sit-ups. There are no shortcuts to success. There is no magic pill or overnight get rich scheme. Do the work and pay your dues. We are building something that is made to last and in order to do that we need to give it our all.

Between April 4th and 5th, Mercury will square both Mars and Saturn. Mercury is retrograde and throws in our face all the things we overlooked in the last couple of months. The fear can take us in the direction of being defensive. Maybe we made a mistake or we missed an important detail. The best approach is to just admit you were wrong rather than letting the fear of the mistake bring you to a place of paralysis or self-sabotage.

Another way this may come up is that we become a little accident prone. Don’t stub your toe now so you can get out of doing the squats. Don’t start a fight just so you can blame someone else for you not moving forward.

This is a time when we’ll need to dig deep, and just remember if we do push through all the negativity, the rewards can be huge!

Why? Mars Conjunction Saturn, Mercury Square Mars, Mercury Square Saturn

Creating Security

What to expect: Financial planning
What to watch out for: Insecurity
What will it affect? Money, money fears, security needs, relationships

Last week Venus moved into Taurus. Venus in Taurus enjoys security, predictability and quality. For this reason, she also likes money. But when Venus squares Ceres on April 4th, all of her childish insecurities come to the surface. We demand things or money from others as a show of love or to get them to meet our security needs. Our inner child is saying “take care of me.” Venus will trine Saturn on April 7th and we come back to our adult self. This will be a good time to not only realize that we are responsible for ourselves, but to also put in place tangible ways of being there for ourselves. It’s great energy for financial planning, investing or creating budgets. It’s tax time, and if you happen to get a tax return, think of ways that you can make your money make more money for you. Venus trine Saturn will help you come up with an excellent solid plan.

Why? Venus Square Ceres, Venus Trine Saturn

Horoscope: March 26- April 1, 2018

March 26 – April 1

Heart Space

What to expect: Opening up
What to watch out for: Feeling scared
What will it affect? Relationships, wounds, work, wisdom

The week starts with a focus on partnerships. Neptune will conjunct Juno in Pisces on March 27th, connecting us with The Divine in a deeply spiritual relationship. We feel transcendent, unconditional, compassionate, sacrificing. This state of being sets us up for letting in divine love, divine intervention and divine guidance. We dare to partner with God and now that God finally has our partnership, trust, and ear, s/he cracks open a space in our hearts, unexpectedly opening us up to other forms of love.

This crack opening in our hearts leads to a seemly frightening experience. We’re open now and on March 27th and 28th, Chiron will sextile Pallas in Taurus, connecting us to the wisdom of the sages. The only problem is that Chiron will also form a square to Vesta. Vesta, the asteroid responsible for our passions and devotions, is now in Sagittarius- the sign that is related to our belief systems, which can also be dogmatic. This may cause a shakeup in our worldview and a crisis of faith once a piece of information comes into our hearts. Our hearts then speak to our mind, piercing through our myopic thinking, altering and helping us see things in a new light, but also challenging everything we thought we knew.

Venus will conjunct Uranus, the planet of surprises on March 28th and this helps to aid the awakening. Venus and Uranus are in Aries, opening us up to an adventure in love and some unexpected and unlikely connections. We can learn from those who are different from us and they can help change us in positive ways.

Why? Neptune Conjunction Transiting Juno, Chiron Sextile Transiting Pallas, Venus Conjunction Transiting Uranus, Chiron Square Transiting Vesta

Painting Fences

What to expect: Frustrations
What to watch out for: Not seeing the point
What will it affect? Work, money, relationships, lessons

On March 29th, the Sun will square Saturn, making us feel held back. The Sun is in Aries, the sign that is known for its “doer” attitude and lack of patience. Active Aries squares Saturn in Capricorn, who prefers to take time-tested and true steps. This square will make us feel slowed and even thwarted. Mars is also there with Saturn and won’t be in an exact square with the Sun until next week, but the proximity and closeness will make the entire week feel stagnant and frustrating. Saturn and Mars in Capricorn are forcing us to be detailed and methodical. It’s not what we want to hear, but it’s the truth. This energy will not let us take short cuts. There is a good reason for it. With quality and precision comes a certain amount of dedicated and focused time. It will feel like climbing a tall mountain at high altitudes. The air will be thin, making our ability to progress laboured. If you’ve ever been at high altitudes, the trick to acclimatizing to the altitude without making yourself horribly sick is to take two steps forward one step back until you reach the peak. If you’re more of a movie buff then the best analogy I can give you is The Karate Kid. You find yourself, like the Karate Kid, wanting to be in the ring fighting and learning the moves. You won’t see the point of painting fences. Just remember, the teacher has his/her method. The best approach is to practice patience, and to take it one step at a time. Conditioning your mind that this is how things are meant to be right now will help to ease the frustration.

There’s energy we can take advantage of. Venus will be in the last degrees of Aries and will trine Vesta. This energy helps us connect with the fire and love we have for our passions. In the last degree we feel it strongly and it’s a good thing. This is will help us to push through. It helps us remember what we are doing this for. Venus will then move into Taurus, the sign that it feels at home in. When Venus is in Taurus, we shift into a groundedness. Things will feel better and we can start to enjoy a feeling of stability.

Why? Sun Square Transiting Saturn, Venus Trine Transiting Vesta. Venus Entering Taurus

Full Moon Libra

What to expect: Culminations
What to watch out for: Opportunities for balance
What will it affect? Partnerships, leadership, dealing with authority

The Full Moon on March 31st is in Libra and is conjunct Mercury which is currently retrograde. The Sabian symbol for the Full Moon,“A professor peering over his glasses” is opposite the Sun who’s Sabian symbol is “The president of the country.” Libra moons are about bringing balance to relationships and a full moon is about bringing a needed culmination. The relationship that needs our attention is the one where political power and intellectual wisdom are out of balance. It’s truly dangerous to have political power without intellectual wisdom and truly a waste if we have intellectual wisdom without political power. With Mercury retrograde and conjunct this Full Moon, we have the opportunity to review any imbalances. The Sabian symbol for Mercury is “a bomb which failed to explode is now safely concealed.” We breathe a sigh of relief that we have averted danger, but now we need to thank our lucky stars and make sure that the danger never presents itself again. We are on the heels of marches originating in the United States and spreading around the world led by youth fed up with gun violence. In the aftermath of listening to our youth have their say this week, we pull together in a new direction. A new direction is supported by the Sun and Mercury in a trine to the North Node in Leo. We find ourselves led by new leadership. Leo is the sign of children!

Why? Full Moon at 10°Li44′, Sun Conjunction Mercury, Sun Trine North Node, Mercury Trine North Node
