New Moon – August 8, 2021

New Moon – August 8, 2021

When is the last time you sang? Break out your karaoke, or if you are shy, turn on the shower, get in. It’s time to belt it out!

Find a song that taps into your spirit and resonates with how you feel… Bohemian Rhapsody… Sing the body electric… Let it go… His eye is on the sparrow; youtube your favourite choir choir choir, and sing along – Hallelujah, Zombie or people have the Power with Patti Smith…

The new moon sets off the revolutionary energy of the Saturn/Uranus square and it asks us to do it with a Leo flare. The Sabian symbol for the new moon is a “volunteer church choir makes social event of rehearsal”. Normally getting together with a church choir to sing is not a revolutionary act… but as it turns out, during the Saturn Uranus square it is! The New Moon is at 16 degrees of Leo. Leo is all about courage, leadership, and creativity. Are you Simba, a young cub finding your voice? Are you a stately lion king? Or are you the cowardly lion, wondering if you even have a heart? It may take a break out in song, Lion King style to figure it find out!

You will know when you have found your theme song when the words accurately tap in to let out your emotion; when the melody makes you want to rewind and play it again; when the frequency lifts your spirit high and takes you to where you need to go! The New Moon squares Uranus at 15 degrees of Taurus whose Sabian symbol is “A man with a rakish silk hat, muffled, braves the storm”. Something about this new moon is not easy, and life becomes a Les Miserable soundtrack! Do you hear the people sing? There is a need to push through.  A need to stand out from the crowd and do it your own way. A need break free, even if you only break free in song!

As this is a New Moon you can and should dream a dream. The moon opposite Saturn however, shows that your dreams may be in reaction to a sense of abandonment and loss. Saturn brings emotional difficulty to the situation, but with that difficulty, we become very clear, and in reaction, dream and declare something that truly values ourselves.  It doesn’t feel comfortable in the moment, yet there is something deeply satisfying about having that clarity to say ‘never again’. That Saturnian energy then spurs you on to achieve your goal and takes steps to nurture your self-esteem

All of this energy at this new moon is also happening in fixed signs. It brings in a stubborn, technical, and prideful energy clashing. It may be a voice within that tells you that you sound tone-deaf, or like nails on a chalkboard, causing you to fear expressing yourself.  On the other hand, you may be drowning out others with your voice, not caring how your sound to others. Try to stay away from disharmony for the sake of disharmony. Your goal shouldn’t be to upstage anyone but to find the right tone to share your inner truth.

Happy New Moon in Leo!

July 23/24th, 2021 Full Moon

July 23/24th Full Moon

The July full moon is at 1 degree of Aquarius. The Sabian symbol for this Full Moon is “an unexpected thunderstorm”.

This full moon brings surprises!

On one hand, you don’t want to be caught unprepared – for instance, out in the middle of the woods, or on a lake. On the other hand, if you find grounding, inner calm, and courage, there is much that can be channeled from this full moon.

This full moon feels a little Benjamin Franklin! Benjamin apparently ran around flying a kite during a storm, determined to study thunder and lightning and their inner workings. In the midst of it, he apparently discovered the grounding rod. A founding father of the United States, he was also coined a radical by the British empire, was a key figure in the American Revolution, and signed the declaration of Independence in 1776 – all very Aquarian!

Aquarius’s traditional ruler is Saturn (associated with the father –founding father’) and its Modern ruler is Uranus (associated with currents, revolution, and change). Saturn and Uranus have been squaring each other all year and they just so happen to be the rulers of this full moon.

If we look at the energy that Benjamin encompassed, he seemed to bring these two energies together seamlessly. Perhaps it was his ability to have his own internal grounding rod.

Notice how close in proximity Benjamin’s discoveries were to the discovery of Uranus in 1781!

The Full Moon is part of the moon phase group that started with the New Moon on January 24, 2020. Something that was seeded at that time comes into a culmination… covid? Or the many lessons that covid brought into your life? Take a look over the last 18 months, what changes did you make to respond to the pandemic? Some people adjusted their relationships, either bringing them closer or breaking them up. Some shifted living circumstances. Others became more aware and focused on their values. At this full moon, additional surprise elements may arise causing you to ground deeper into the changes that were made. If you have not made changes, and only thought about them, this full moon may be the lightning under your butt to shift you into action.

The full moon at 1 degree of Aquarius is also a trigger point for the Saturn Jupiter conjunction of December 21, 2021. I talked about the significance of the energy of the Saturn Jupiter conjunction at 0 degrees Aquarius:

Many are feeling the shift upon us and are worried about misuse of power – the loss of individuality, loss of autonomy, and loss of freedom are potential misuses of the power of Aquarius. So are revolutions. But the power of Aquarius is in love peace and compassion. Its power is in community, groups, and friendships. I would suggest getting together with others with common interests to help manifest the power of Merkabam. (If you are in lockdown, find a way – connect via zoom and have a backup plan for if there’s no internet).

How do you want to see the use of computers, artificial intelligence, innovations, electricity, or electric waves (some are healthy and healing and others no so much)? What breakthroughs do you want to see? What do you want from the media? What do you want for humanity? Human rights? All of these areas are ruled by Aquarius. Dream big! Dream outside the box! Aquarius is also our hopes and dreams!…. Dream what you want in fine detail…. And then bring in a ceremony to help you harness its power.

This full moon brings us back to that energy and allows us to reflect on how much detail we have put into our dreams. Celebrate the gains and if there are gaps in the details of your dreams, use this time to let go of whatever is getting in the way, and add more fine details to dream up what you want.

Happy Full Moon in Aquarius!

New Moon in Cancer – July 9/10, 2021

New Moon at 18 degrees Cancer

The new moon happens on July 9/10th in cancer. The new moon is a time for intention setting. This new moon focuses on family, tribe, tradition or new tradition. The Sabian symbol for the new moon is “A priest performing a marriage ceremony”. The marriage ceremony brings together two people to form a relationship. The priest performing the ceremony brings down heaven to sanctify it. The two individuals come together to form a new “blessed” third entity. This new “blessed” third entity, forms the structure for then building a family.

But there is a traditional family – two parents a boy and a girl and a white picket fence. And there are non-traditional forms of family, of which there are so many options! This new moon provides an opportunity for forging a new non-traditional family!

This new moon is widely aspecting a number of planets. It’s sextile Uranus in Taurus. This bringing in a desire to change or a unique approach to the security that family or the tribe brings. Maybe you’ve read the Ringing Cedars books and you are considering creating your own Kin Domain. Or you’ve realized that safety means being nomadic and have opted for the van life. Whatever the approach to family, this new moon brings in an opportunity to create something unique. The new moon is also trine to Neptune in Pisces, and this brings in bringing in less of ‘sanctified tradition’ (church or government) and more ‘spiritual inspiration’ (your higher self, league of angels, or spiritual guides). This can feel like a direction that you are meant to go in regardless of how strange it may look. It’s exciting and though weird taps in authentically to your sense of belonging and connection.

But the new moon also squares Chiron and opposes Pluto. This is not an easy decision or path to take! While this new moon brings opportunities to forge a new and unique sense of family, tribe, and tradition, it also presents risks.

Chiron in Aries and has been bringing up wounding around who we are. Chiron in the “who am i” sign of Aries brings up words like self-reliance, sovereignty, personal freedom, exploration. While in Aries, the wounding comes from stepping out and expressing your core self. The square aspect to this cancer new moon, causes the wounding to flare up and brings up conflict with the family or tribe. Do you’re family allow you to be who you are? Or for the sake of tradition and socialization do they try to force a certain way of being. You may feel like “nobody put’s baby in a corner” (Dirty Dancing reference). Maybe you want to swing your hips to the sultry moves of bachata, but your people would prefer you to keep it clean with a wholesome cha-cha-cha. The thought of it makes you miserable. Like Baby, you find yourself sneaking off to the underground Latin dance classes so that you can tap into your passions and properly express yourself. It’s not that you don’t love your family, you just have something inside that needs to “be you”. At this new moon, you can set intentions for truly healing those wounds around being yourself. It won’t be comfortable. But there is an opportunity for healing.

Those risks include the risk of banishment from those who you’ve known to be family and risks of power struggles as those old structures try to maintain. The new moon is also opposite Pluto. Pluto is in Capricorn where is bringing out the powerful and controlling aspects of old and traditional structures. Governments or old institutions may try to hold onto the power. In this case, the old institution of marriage or the social structure of the tribe (or nation). Perhaps they want you to do family or belonging in the traditional way. They may say to you “only the government or the church can bless a union” and try to tell you that your intended family structure is not legitimate. The trick to getting through this energy is to create an inner union. Connect with your spiritual guidance to create your own sanctity or blessings.

All in all this New Moon is a chance to find that place where you fit, even if the path to doing so is wrought with opposition. When you arrive, it will feel so right!

Happy New Moon in Cancer!
