Aries Full Moon – Oct 20, 2021

Full Moon in Aries – Oct 20, 2021

The Full Moon is at 27 degrees of Aries. The Sabian symbol for the moon is ‘a large disappointed audience’. The Sabian symbol speaks of expectations. The audience expects something that is not delivered. Maybe they were misled to think they would get one thing and got another; false advertising. Or they thought they would get more but for one reason or another, the person on the stage fell short. Perhaps something happened out of the blue – a power outage or equipment issues, a rainstorm in an outdoor arena, or an unexpected illness leaving the performer unable to deliver. It’s out of their control, but that doesn’t stop the audience from not being happy! The performer, politician, speaker… whoever it is that is in front of the audience is now called to account, to be responsible, to make good.

We’ve all been in this situation either on the stage or in the audience. It can be dealt with gracefully and humbly – promises of refunds, extra added on, apologies, and other amends. It can also be dealt with poorly – disappearing acts, blame, and even retaliation. How the person in the spotlight responds will make all the difference at this full moon. The moon is conjunct Eris and opposite mars and square to Pluto, making it not just a disappointed audience, but an angry, vengeful, and volatile one too.

Eris is a dwarf planet that is a shit disturber. Like her namesake, she tosses the golden apple and says “who is the fairest”? She incites division, competition, and war. What is the golden apple in your life? Political parties? Mandates? Opinions about injections? Whatever has been thrown between you to divide you, rolls in front of your feet and you will need to decide how to act. The best advice is to disengage, rise above and refuse the discord. Love… even if you are excluded or not chosen or feel slighted. Don’t let your hurt or ego get in the way.

The ruler of the moon is Mars. Mars in Libra is debilitated. The debilitation causes Mars to be indecisive on one hand, but if squeezed and pressured as it is right now, it can bring about an over-the-top need to fight for justice. It’s conjunct the sun and the fixed star Spica which will help to counter any indecision. Decisions made now may be good, but they may also be rash and foolish. Don’t be afraid to act fearing you will make a mistake. Even a mistake can create an unexpected opportunity…. In the word of Miles from the movie Risky Business “Every now and then say, “What the fuck.” “What the fuck” gives you freedom. Freedom brings opportunity. Opportunity makes your future.

The full moon also has helpful energy. Mars is also trine to Jupiter. Jupiter is in Aquarius expanding group energy, altruism, but also disruption and change. It brings action, optimism, and justice to matters of the people, for the people, and with the people. Find a group where you belong and resolve to make a difference.

Lastly, full moons are always about culminations. Aries is a fire sign, so use the element of fire for the ceremony – release anything that needs to go!

Happy Full Moon!

Pisces Full Moon – Sept 20, 2021

Pisces Full Moon – Sept 2021

The Pisces full moon is at 28 degrees of Pisces and is conjunct Neptune making it an especially ethereal Full Moon. The Sabian symbol for this full moon is “a prism”.

What is a prism? It’s “a transparent body that is bounded in part by two nonparallel plane faces and is used to refract or disperse a beam of light”

Light is unity. Broken into parts it creates colours and the prism allows us to see those colours. Light is beautiful, but so is colour. Think of how each colour has its own energy and connotation. And how the duality of these two nonparallel structures helps us to see it.

Each colour can be seen negatively or positively. That’s the nature of duality. Purple can be spiritual or it can be snobby. Blue can be trustworthy or it can be depressive. Green can be luscious or it can be envy. Yellow can be joyful or it can be caution. Orange can be confident or it can be cheap. Red can be passionate love or it can be danger. For those of us who are striving to be better people. We try to stay out of the negative by being in the positive. But in the world of duality, you can’t get away from the divisions. We have to accept that both exist.

Some mistakenly think that being in the positive is being in the light. But the metaphor of the prism helps us to see it is not. Positive is only the opposite of negative. But pull the duality of all of those colours, and their positive and negative meanings together and you have unity. This is the work of Lightworkers. It’s a balance of duality. It’s shifting the nonparallel planes into parallel planes. It’s gathering in the light, recognizing that within the light is both positive and negative.

Embrace the power of the spectrum of colour at this Pisces full moon! Check-in with your spiritual selves to assess how well you accept all the colours and their meanings. Without fully embracing them both you will be unable to gather the light. Are you too far on the positive, forgetting the negative – sometimes this is called spiritual bypass. And with the Neptune energy, it’s easy to do.

This full moon will present us with some negative aspects so we get to check in with how well we respond. The moon so close to the end of the sign is making an out-of-sign opposition to Mars in Libra. Mars in Libra is a little passive-aggressive. And the emotions of the Pisces moon will make it seem wishy-washy. This kind of energy will bring up anger and outburst. They may not be directed directly at “you”… but rather at “some people”. “some people should know better”! some people being those who look, speak, think, act like you… but passively aggressively are not exactly you! The moon is also sextile to Pluto giving the emotions some power and a little bit of manipulation. The best way to handle this energy is to make conscious your unconscious and take responsibility for how you feel.

In this respect, we have a little help. Pisces is ruled by Neptune, but it also has a secondary ruler (or a traditional ruler), which is Jupiter. Jupiter is in Aquarius making a trine to Mercury in Libra. This helps us to be philosophical. It helps us to embrace logic, perspectives, beliefs, and humanitarianism. Mercury is in its shadow phase – it will go retrograde this week. So it will dance with Jupiter a little more over the next couple of weeks. Expect some interesting debates and challenges to your beliefs!

At the end of it all, Pisces and Neptune remind us that we are not separate! Separation is only an optical illusion! But boy do they both love an illusion!

Full Moon in Aquarius – Aug 22, 2021

Full Moon in Aquarius – Aug 22, 2021

This is our second full moon in Aquarius this year! The Aquarius Full Moon is at 29 degrees. Depending on which interpretation you look at, the Sabian symbol for this degree is “Moon-lit fields, once Babylon, are blooming white” or “ a field of Ardath in bloom”

Ardath means a flowering field. The word ardath shows up in 2 Esdras. It’s an apocalyptic book of the Bible, but not a canonized one, and so only appears in some versions of the Bible. It says:

2 Esdras 9:26

23 Nevertheless, if thou wilt cease yet seven days more, (but thou shalt not fast in them, 24 But go into a field of flowers, where no house is builded, and eat only the flowers of the field; taste no flesh, drink no wine, but eat flowers only;) 25 And pray unto the Highest continually, then will I come and talk with thee. 26 So I went my way into the field which is called Ardath, like as he commanded me; and there I sat among the flowers, and did eat of the herbs of the field, and the meat of the same satisfied me. 27 After seven days I sat upon the grass, and my heart was vexed within me, like as before: 28 And I opened my mouth, and began to talk before the most High, and said, 29 O Lord, thou that shewest thyself unto us, thou wast shewed unto our fathers in the wilderness, in a place where no man treadeth, in a barren place, when they came out of Egypt.

Babylon means ‘the gates of God’. And Ardath means ‘fields of flowering plants. If you piece these two interpretations, and this passage of the book of (some) bibles, you get the sense that gates to heaven and to communication with God are found in connection with nature. And maybe even plant medicines!

In the documentary, The Last Shaman (on Netflix), a young man, ivy league educated and successful in the concrete jungle, is so out of touch with himself that he can’t feel. In a deep depression and out of desperation, he goes to the South American jungle to look for a shaman to help. He is introduced to plant medicines and at one point, for a period of time, is left by himself with the plants (And a camera. It was, after all, a documentary). He is taken on an inner journey and at times you see him speaking to someone pleading for answers. At the end of his time with the plants, he seems at peace and in connection with himself.

Did the plants help him meet God?

On the other hand, the city of Babylon is often associated with materialism and evil. There is a story in the bible of the tower of babel. It was being built in Babylon at a time when there was one world and one language. The story goes that the tower was being built to reach heaven. God displeased with it, scatters humanity, and creates different languages so they can’t communicate.

The question at this full moon is, therefore “how do you find your answers?” You don’t necessarily need to eat psychotropic plants to find a connection, but there is also a warning about building castles in the sky.

The moon is conjunct Jupiter at this full moon. Jupiter expands everything it touches. It also sometimes brings a teacher. Make sure yours is not a false teacher!

The good news is that the ruler of the Full Moon is Saturn. While this brings a serious tone to the moon, Saturn makes helpful aspects to Ceres and the North Node in Gemini, and Venus in Libra. This is a particularly potent grand trine as Saturn is in one of its home signs and Venus is in her home sign. The opportunity exists for serious structures, love, and nurturing communication. Trines are potential, but they have a tendency to be complacent. You may not say “l love you” assuming that the other person knows. The trick with this Full Moon will be to say it even if we think others know.

Communications will be nurturing and will lead us in the right direction. Just make sure your communication starts from authenticity.

Happy Full Moon!
