Libra New Moon – Sept 25, 2022

The New Moon on Sept 25th, 2022 is at 2 degrees of Libra. Libra is the sign of balance, fairness, and justice. It’s the sign of relationships and partnerships. It focuses on our values. Libra can be aggressive and prone to fight or war when things go out of balance but ultimately seeks peace. Libra is also about beauty and balance in terms of colour, style, lines and form. The new moon is a time when we can focus on issues and elements of Libra and set intentions for these areas.

The new moon is opposite Jupiter at 3 degrees of Aries. Jupiter in Aries is expanding the need for freedom, courage, self-reliance, conflict, enterprise or entrepreneurship. The energy of Jupiter opposite the new moon is asking us to use moderation in our intentions. When something is too big, or too grand too large of a goal, we can be too overwhelmed to make it happen. This aspect can make us full of hot air, unrealistic and can put us in danger of setting ourselves up to fail! Your goal shouldn’t be a multimillionaire dollar business partnership, but instead a thriving business with healthy partnerships. It should be freedom at all costs, but a freedom that is balanced with meeting your needs. War to win and be right should be countered by standing your firm in your boundaries and respecting others.

The energy is doubly tricky as Venus, the ruler of the new moon is opposite Neptune. Venus in Virgo is very picky and a perfectionist. Opposite Neptune, that picky perfectionism is coloured with self-delusion. Are we being honest with ourselves about what is realistic? Are we telling ourselves the truth? This aspect can also bring up lies, and deceptions, and we might be shown an uncomfortable truth from within ourselves or from others that surround us.

The way to handle the energy of this new moon is through communication. Mercury retrograde in Virgo encourages us to look back and focus on the details. We are encouraged to listen and assess the value of what we are hearing. There is a tendency to be lazy and believe what is presented before us, but mercury in Virgo asks us to do a little more research and review and get a little more obsessed with details. Don’t just focus on words that you are hearing. Listen to your emotions. Key into your body’s reactions. Does what you hear cause a knot in your stomach? Does it make you feel exhausted? Do you feel lit up and enlightened? This all forms important information to include in your research and review. Make checklists, and use weighted decision-making tools. Also, taking score in relationships isn’t always advised, but on this new moon, it will help you to see the truth.

The Sabian symbol for the new moon is “The dawn of a new day, everything changed”. This suggests that we are now in new territory and nothing is what we expect. Everything is changed. To some extent, the new moon is suggesting that we need to face this reality. We are no longer painting on canvas, but with non-fungible tokens. How we were successful in the past may not be the case in the new and changed reality. The new day asks us to take stock of the new landscape and assess the new values, the new rules of engagement, the reality of any new relational and even monetary agreements, and to respect new design and form.

The only asteroid closely associated with this new moon is Rhiphonos. Rhiphonos represents the need to throw off, throw out, throw away, throw at, on, or in. This suggests the need to do something to jump-start the achievement of our goal(s). What’s needed is an energetic spark of force one way or another. Maybe you need to throw something out, and that causes you to work towards getting another. Or you metaphysically throw spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks… helping you to know which path to pursue. The point is, don’t get stuck in fantasy and possibility. Start making it happen, even if it looks messy and feels uncomfortable! Throwing things intentionally out of balance will help us to move towards finding an even better and more satisfying new balance.

Happy New Moon in Libra.

Pisces Full Moon – Sept 10, 2022

The Full Moon on September 10th is at 17 degrees of Pisces

At the Pisces moon there is a culmination in Pisces matters; spirituality and places where spirituality is sought (temples, ashrams, nunneries etc); intuition and things unseen; fantasy and the movies and theatre; the sea and all sea life including mystical sea creatures. It represents hidden knowledge and secrets. On the negative side, it is associated with addictions, jail, quarantines, self-undoing, fog, confusion and spaciness.

The moon is ruled by Neptune which, though seven degrees from the moon is also in Pisces. This gives it more Pisces power! The focus will likely be on the health aspects of Pisces. This is because the moon is trining Hygiea, named after the Greek god of health and representing health, cleanliness and hygiene. Because Hygiea is in Scorpio, this could be related to mental health, viruses, as well as sexual health. This trine asks us to follow our intuition, and focus on spirituality in order to heal. Anything that helps us escape will also be positive; a silent retreat, time at a water spa, or a night out at the theatre all come to mind. These are the things we haven’t done in a long while or are things we have always wanted to do that call to our soul.

The traditional ruler of Pisces is Jupiter, which is in Aries and is opposite Mercury in Libra. Mercury is standing still (stationary) and about to go retrograde, which amps up its energy. The opposition will create overreactions and strong beliefs. Jupiter in Aries is focused on “what I need”, but mercury in Libra is shouting out relationship stuff, like “it’s not fair” and “what about me… don’t you care about us”? With Mercury about to go retrograde, take time to think about what you say before you say it. It’s also a good time to reflect on codependency issues.

The Moon is conjunct Astraea, which brings in the energy of fairness, justice and resolving unfinished business. This energy is calling us to use our good judgment and focus on our morals and values. And since it is in Pisces, we must listen closely to our intuition. Teharonhiawako is also with the moon and its energy calls for us to face the light and dark, duality as it were. It asks us to transcend our duality and face our shadow.

The Sun in Virgo is conjunct with the asteroid Toro, which is known for its bullying, course and brutal words. But since it’s in Virgo, expect words to be judgmental and expectant of perfection. These words will likely come from a partner or someone close as Amor is also conjunct to the Sun.  However, Teharonhiawako there with the moon makes it probable that others are reflecting back to us what is inside of ourselves begging to be looked at.

The final aspect of this full moon is sextile Uranus and the North Node. Uranus and the North Node are in Taurus, and we are being asked to be innovative with food, our diets, our finances, our processions and our land. The good thing is that one creative action can have many benefits. For example, deciding to grow an indoor hydroponic garden wall, can provide you with good food to eat, and upgrade the aesthetics of your property. A dirt garden can do the same in terms of food, but also get your hands in the dirt, which has been shown to help ease depression!

The Sabian symbol for this Full Moon is “In a huge tent a famous revivalist conducts his meeting”. This speaks of coming together with others who share similar beliefs but also looking backwards to what is worthy of being revived. Is there something we have forgotten that feeds our souls that we need to bring back? Since we are dealing with a famous revivalist, we may want to check in with ourselves – Are we swayed by the fame? Or is this something and someone that reflects something that we truly need?

Happy Full Moon in Pisces!

Virgo New Moon – August 27, 2022

The new moon in August is at 4 degrees of Virgo on Aug 27.

Virgo is about organization, routine and health. In order to do these things it uses categories, lists and the mind to plan. Sometimes guilt plays a part in the Virgo world, often as a motivator…. motivating us to clean up our rooms, go an a diet, plan out our lives. Virgo symbolized as a woman holding a shaft of wheat. Virgo interacts with plants, not so much as a gardener or a farmer, but as a doctor, herbalist, shaman, witch.

The Sabian Symbol for the new moon is a man dreaming of fairies. The sabian symbol speaks of becoming aware of earth elementals. Elementals are messengers and guardians of Gaia. Fairies, for instance are said to protect the forests. They provide help with their magic, giving us medicine in herbs and plants but they can also be tricky and mischievous and can deliver poisons. The elementals remind us that if we respect plants, their virtues can be allies, but if we disconnect or even have distain, they can be cruel and poisonous.

The new moon is squaring mars in Gemini exactly, giving the new moon an assertive, even aggressive edge. Mars in Gemini, the sign of communication can be a bit of a shit talker, may spread gossip, may lie (or misinform/disinform).

The ruler of mars is mercury. In the plant world, mercury is the plant teacher. Once it enters you, it becomes a part of you. Plant teachers can bring you into the depths and bring you back out, purging you of demons or bringing them into your life.

Also mercury is at 1 degree of Libra. The information will also come to us from close relationships, legal proceedings or mediations.

The new moon is also sextile Pallas. Any information we gather can help us to build a strategy for what’s next. The information will be synthesized into a mindmap and a future path.

The asteroid GongGong is at 5 degrees of Pisces, opposite the new moon. GongGong in Chinese mythology was a dragon and ruler of the world. It was responsible for floods and for the changing tilt of the earth. It’s energy is associated with cosmological disaster and environmental change. With this energy opposite the Virgo new moon we can expect metaphorical and actual floods. Dramatic polar shifts representing new directions… this may even mean starting over from scratch.

As always the new moon is a time for seeding new beginnings. Use the new moon energy to set intentions.

Happy New Moon
