January Horoscope 2014

“The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves.”
― William ShakespeareJulius Caesar

I think it’s a bold statement to start the New Year with not just one, but two new moons. The first one on January 1 is conjunct Pluto! It just says bold, authoritative and fresh. Following on the heels of a very messy end of year, all I can say is Open Government! I know it’s much more interesting to read a horoscope about love, relationships or what luck Jupiter is going to bring you in 2014, but government is what is in the stars; at least at the beginning of the month! Pluto the planet of power, transformation, death and renewal is in Capricorn calling for change not just in government, but also business and financial structures.  Any misuse of power is now being called into question and the result… social change! Which come on… can be interesting, right?

Here is my conspiracy theory on the whole thing.  I worked for government for years, at all levels and in various positions, from Meter Maid to Consultant. In my role as Consultant, I noticed that it wasn’t me, but KPMG, Deloitte and other consulting agencies that were hired to study everything from employee engagement to customer service, while I was numbed in the job of shuffling paper. They got all of the interesting stuff that I had all kinds of great ideas on, but they figured someone outside of themselves had a better answer to. This was so much the case that I finally left and became a consultant myself! These consulting firms figured out the problem, they outlined their recommendations and then the powers that be in government did… dun dun dun… nothing! Instead they treated the report like it WAS the solution. Governments are notorious for doing white papers, studying the problems and then doing nothing. I don’t think consultant firms have any problem taking the money, doing the studies and giving themselves some work, but after a while you start to scratch your head and then you realize that, as my father used to say “crazy is doing things the same old way and expecting different results.” So they offered up a solution in a book called The Solution Revolution, which among others things, calls the government on their BS. Not only that, it challenges us to look beyond traditional financial bottom line to something they call impact currency. Now you might reading this and say “Pie in the sky!” Nothing will change.  That would be true if it were some unknown, like the guy who wrote about Sacred Ecomonics (which is absolutely brilliant), but it wasn’t! It was a top consulting firm and Harvard! All I can say is…. All you social entrepreneurs out there, this new moon is for you. Time for real solutions! Time for change! The new moon, Mercury and Pluto will form a trine to Pallas in Virgo, helping you to see the big transformational picture in all the fine minute detail. Set an intention, being as detailed as you can as this is the year for following through with actual solutions! This is the case not just for government solutions, but also business and financial solutions!

Mercury and the Sun will oppose Jupiter in the first couple of days of the year making us confident, optimistic and apt to push limits. The Sun is also squaring Mars, so we can have that extra push needed towards our goals. All of this can also make us overly optimistic and conflict oriented, so we’ll need to manage our new enthusiasm and projects so that they don’t nosedive or alternatively, piss people off.

And now on to relationships! What would life be without relationships?

Neptune, the spiritual planet, and Juno, the marriage/relationship asteroid will conjunct on the 8th and both will be trine the North Node, helping us to connect with our soul mate or soul group. The energy will be in play all the way up to the 13th. Mars is also square Jupiter on the 8th, so you may be connecting with those who share a passionate cause. Venus and Sun are conjunct on the 11th, supporting the meet-up of a love connection, but Venus is retrograde (it went retrograde on December 21), so this person may be a past love. The Sun and Venus are also sextile to Saturn, so it could also be a business relationship that shows up. Don’t make any firm commitments while Venus is retrograde. Even though I think this has the potential to be long lasting, there is some stuff to work out, which you will see later in the month. At the moment, the difficulty will be in integrating materialist goals with spiritual goals as the Sun will square Vesta, having an either/or feeling to it.  Also, the full moon on the 15th is square to Ceres, bringing up some intensity around either separation or feelings of being smothered. This relationship could be a good thing, but as they say, good things take time.

The chance to work it out will come at the second new moon on January 30, which will be highly focused on relationships. The relationships I am talking about here could be personal, work, business or they can be to the collective. Pallas and Jupiter moving into a configuration called a Yod with the new moon. Another Yod will involve Uranus, the new moon and Pallas. Also, Jupiter will be opposing Pluto exactly! In addition, there is also a mystic rectangle with Jupiter, Chiron, Pallas and Pluto. Finally, the ongoing T-square with Uranus, Pluto and Jupiter will be present. Oh, one last thing… Venus will be right beside Pluto on the last day of its retrograde. What does this all mean? Well, sometimes the universe just throws all of the blocks out there and like a two-year old, we have to take those blocks and figure out how they fit.

The energy of the two Yods are like trying to push that rectangle into a square. To make it work we first we need to make some adjustments.  Jupiter and Pallas are working together to come up with big ideas and grandiose schemes. They are thinking outside of the box. Actually, they may think there is no box… But these ideas are out of step with the airy, somewhat detached, and surprisingly inflexible revolutionary new moon. The new moon in the air is being fueling by the fire of Uranus in Aries, both of which are out of step with the big picture that Pallas is presenting. We have all the blocks; we just don’t know how to make them fit. Everything seems possible and impossible at the same time! There is however, a solution or better said, an opportunity! It’s found in Chiron and Juno, which are conjunct and whom together speak about a healing in our deepest relationships! And since they are both in Pisces, this could also be healing of the collective, the world and mankind. To describe this kind of collective relationship, Jesus called the church his “bride”. But here is the problem with the relationship; Jupiter in home loving and nurturing Cancer is opposite Pluto who is hanging out with Venus in Capricorn. This is a bit of a Mommy Porn combination. If you’re feeling super uncomfortable that I have just used Jesus and mommy porn in the same paragraph, you are likely connecting with the energy of this combination. Its Christian Grey’s controlled, severe, power and corporate success filled sexuality versus the tortured-by-her-subconscious-mind Anastasia and her desire for love nurturance and something quite normal and homey. Forget that 50 shades of Grey is a poorly written book, we all have a secret fantasy that we can change another to suit our needs. With Jupiter opposite Pluto/Venus we may have an overwhelming desire to make this happen and will attempt to do it. However, how we go about it will be all that matters. We can use and abuse the power of Pluto and Venus which tends towards jealousy, and control. We can go over the top with expansive Jupiter in the mix. Juno and Chiron are also opposed by Pallas, so it might be easy to nitpick, focus on the hurt or all those ways it won’t work. There are a whole host of ways this can go wrong.

But… there is a way through this!

The mystic rectangle presents us with the opportunities for optimism, faith, healing understanding, by taking the opportunities presented to us and diving into it together and in creative ways. Big fat hint… Trying to figure it out on your own won’t work. Going deep and into the scary or taboo subjects through shared experiences will.  Here is something else that may help. Start every conversation with “yes, and…” rather than “yes, but…” and you’ll be on the right track.

The month will end on January 31 with Venus going direct. With all of the relationship work you’ve done you should now be clear – or at least well on your way to being clear – on where you want them to go and with Venus direct, you have the green light to move forward.

READ WHAT’S GOING ON FOR EACH SIGN…..

ARIES

You can rise to power or have a very public fall at the beginning of the month. Set intentions for using your power wisely. Later in the month, the focus shifts to humanitarian causes. You just need to figure out how to merge your desire for status with a need to selflessly serve. There might be some karma to work out here.

TAURUS

Pope Francis was named man of the year by People magazine. The reason? He has mastered being conventional and unorthodox at the same time and this is your challenge this month. You can have the institutional structure and have true spirit within.  Transforming your belief system or awakening your Kundalini can throw some of your relationships off later in the month. Your ability to hold the complexity of yours and others’ perspectives will help.

GEMINI

It may seem like your insides are turning out. This month you are phoenix rising.  A healing is also happening in your career. Towards the end of the month you start to redefine your relationship to your career and ways of making money. What are those people who make millions, loose it all, and then make it all back again made of? Have the rules of the game changed? These are the questions you will answer as you clarify this relationship.

CANCER

How’s your love life? You can make a new beginning this month. Communication is key, but loosen your need to feel superior and be strict. Using optimism, deep faith and your uncanny ability to be perceptive, this month will help find and communicate common ground. Relationships formed with others from diverse backgrounds can help to expand yourself and broaden your perspectives in positive ways.

LEO

Games, power trips and subversive tactics used to work in the workplace, but you will be finding out this month that this is no longer the case. Which end of this dynamic are you on? If you’re the instigator, these moves will backfire. If you are the victim, how can you have the courage to speak up? Everyone knows what really happens to a whistleblower, right? But maybe the rules are changing. Issues of trust power and the real meaning of the agile leader comes up for you this month.

VIRGO

This month you’re like the suffering and tortured artist, the strict and patriarchal father, the love-sick and tormented lover. You may be shadow-boxing as you spar with what you think you own and what is not in your control. You want to be still-life, but life is calling for abstract expressionist.  What shows up on the outside is often just an expression of the inside. Examining the patterns that lie within will help.

LIBRA

Your relationship with your parents (even if they are no longer around) is going through a renovation.  You are challenged this month to allow rather than force. Not only will pushing have you looking like a spoiled brat, the finished product might look god-awful. Later in the month, let your creativity guide you as you tap into the collective unconscious. Doing so will help you heal the relationship you have with the way you serve others. Maybe you know that you’re supposed to be charitable, but deep down you know you’re really not. Examine where that comes from, without judgement.

SCORPIO

You’re known for your scorpion sting and this month you can be extremely powerful with your words. Conflict with your thoughts and words can manifest as a sore stomach or jangly-accident-prone energy. Keep calm and carry on.  You might want to try something like a Vipassana retreat, where you can collectively gather with others who are collectively silent and collectively meditate together. You’ll be surprised at how much it heals your mojo.

SAGITTARIUS

Use the energy this month wisely and you could be very lucky. Let’s say you launch a crowd-sourcing campaign, what gets people on board is what you’re currently valuing and how you intend to use the power of money. You may even have a situation where people are surprisingly overly confident in you and your cause and now you’ve got to step up your game to measure up. Ever notice how important the First Lady is to the President’s success? Healing and valuing your family relationships later in the month will help in how you are being perceived.

CAPRICORN

Everything is right in the world. You’re asserting yourself, being recognized, reaching a place of status. This is exactly as it should be in the Capricorn life.  You will come across with public approval if you project yourself respectfully, but there is a tendency to ego trip now, which will engender backlash. If your ego is in the way, expect situations to arise which will send you into self-examination. Also the jig is up with the old style of political posturing or networking. At the end of the month you can really come to understand the new rules if you approach your relationships with mutuality and authenticity.

AQUARIUS

It’s like you are all snuggled in a cocoon and things are happening, but you’re not sure what is happening. You’re all cramped up inside there, not even realizing that you are growing wings. You are still unaware of just how beautiful and free you will feel once this process is over.  This month, you will be challenged to do the work and not push your growing thoughts and ideas on others just yet. You’re at the conscious. competent stage of learning and may feel the need to “teach what you need to learn to others.” Learn it first!  Self-esteem rises when you heal your sense of worth through play. Even though you’re in that cocoon you’ll need to find a way to play with others, not by yourself. There are ways. Think of a baby in a womb, who plays by kicking.

PISCES

There might be a bit of a blow-up in your financial situation. Both your personal cash flow and your shared resources might be seriously comprised or conversely, has increased in a way that has left you very uncomfortable. This situation is helping you to discover who your real friends are?  Also, you’re making adjustments to your hopes and dreams. Does what you think matters, really matter, anymore?  At the end of the month, there is an opportunity to see relationship patterns clearly and to heal your relationship with yourself, which invariably changes, your relationship to others.

December Horoscope 2013

What is the difference between losing control and letting go? We are in control of one and not the other… And contrary to popular belief, which one we are in control of is completely counter-intuitive. That is what December will be like, but our approach to it will make all the difference.

To start with, last week while looking into something else with my astrology software, I added in the asteroid Nemesis. On top of the basic planets and the goddess asteroids there are hundreds of other asteroids and stars that you could look at when looking at astrology. Most astrologers, like Susan Miller or Jan Spiller, look at the planets, and there are others like Bernadette Brady, who include stars. I prefer to stick to the planets and the goddess asteroids because I feel that they speak to me and they are relevant for our times. But on occasion when something doesn’t make sense, I will add in other stuff to see if I can fine-tune the picture. That is how Nemesis ended up in my charts. However, when I went to take Nemesis out, I couldn’t. I could not figure out what I had done to add it in. Apparently it was not the normal way, so with no choice, I left it in.

Interestingly enough, something weird was happening in my life, and when I pulled up my chart, I couldn’t miss it, there was Nemesis directly opposing my Uranus. Then I pulled up the charts for December to write the horoscopes and again, I couldn’t miss it, Nemesis was also doing some interesting things in the December charts. It was acting like a thorn in my side, but it was clear, Nemesis wanted me to notice it and to say something about it. So in the December horoscope, I am going to include Nemesis.

Everyone knows what or who their nemesis is in life, and that is exactly what Nemesis represents in your natal chart and by transit.  Enter the word in a Google search and the definition says that it is “the inescapable agent of someone’s or something’s downfall.” In Greek mythology Nemesis is the goddess or spirit of divine retribution, and the name Nemesis’ Greek origin means “to give what is due”. ( Greek Myth definition straight from the pages of Wikipedia)

Just to be clear, the asteroid Nemesis that I am talking about has an orbital period of 4.6 years. There is also a hypothetical star called Nemesis, which is said to have an orbit of 26 million years or something like that, and it is not what I am talking about here.  That star, a dooms-day theory to some extent, is posited to appear at some point and take us all out causing another Ice Age; it was apparently responsible for the first. Well, it might feel like another Ice Age for some with what asteroid Nemesis will contribute to this month events, but I think it will be more like the Dr. Evil locking and cryogenically freezing himself inside of a Big Boy and then ejecting to outer space in an effort to control his fate.  Let me explain…

statuette of justice-goddess themis or nemesis
statuette of justice-goddess themis or nemesis

Wherever Nemesis is in the chart it shows the behaviour, beliefs or attitudes that hold you back or act like the downfall in your life. And much like the law of attraction, what we hold within manifests on the outside. When it transits, it shows up as someone or something that is trying to trip you up or sabotage you. In modern day language we call them the “haters”. But haters have no place in your life if you don’t allow them in mentally. When Nemesis shows up in your life, how it plays out will very much depend on your approach to it. I believe Nemesis’s lesson is one of taking radical responsibility, while also trusting in the goodness of life. This month Nemesis will oppose Vesta on December 1 and in an effort to control, we may start blaming the downfall in our lives on our career or a cause that we are strongly involved in. Mercury will square Neptune on December 6 leading to deceptive or confusing communications. But Nemesis will trine and work together with Mercury on December 9 and the downfall may come via communications. I live in Toronto, Canada, and last month I talked about some truths coming to light with governments and other status quo type of structures and boy, did we ever see it here! We saw it happen with all three levels of government. This time the communication will not be like the revelations of secrets or confessions that we witnessed in November; it will be like what Gil Scott Heron (may he rest in peace) prophesied! The revolution will not be televised; the revolution will be live…. live twitter feeds, live text messages, live Facebook #tags and uploaded to YouTube shortly after. This time it might be the pissed off rants of Matt Damon reminding us of Howard Zinn’s speech or Russell Brand’s call for revolution that take on critical mass or other communications like the revolutionary text from Taylor Conroy that contribute to the downfall taking place.

On December 14, Nemesis then conjuncts Uranus, having us blame innovation or revolution for the downfall. Then on December 26, it will oppose Pluto. Undoing will come through the inability to let go of power, and other Plutonian power mechanism. Long story short, I think government and all things Capricorn who are clinging to power will have completely  unraveled themselves by the end of December, giving brand new meaning to the term “give them some rope” that they will want to jump inside of that Big Boy and be ejected into space, but that would only be if they were smart.

But let’s backtrack a bit. The new moon happens on December 2 in Sagittarius. A Sagittarius new moon is all about ideals. It is in a trine to Uranus, igniting revolutions and zealous goals. On a personal level this is a great day to set intentions that further the goals of humanity and teach higher goals. With Nemesis coming up close to Uranus, you will want to make sure they serve a higher goal or the needs of all of humanity. Be warned that, if not, they may have a nucleus with DNA-embedded messages of self undoing. The new moon will also be sextile Ceres, now in balancing Libra, making it a very nurturing and fertile moon if we take the opportunities presented within it.

On the10th, radical ideas might find expression with Mercury trine Uranus. Also on the 10th, Pluto will square Vesta. I don’t like this transiting aspect as it sometimes finds expression with those who are willing to die to fight for their cause. Ghandi did this with his hunger strikes. I guess we could say that – if we needed to on the positive side; but on the negative side, it also finds expression with suicide bombers. To me both are hard, but if we need to see an expression of this, I prefer the one steeped in non-violence (although still violent to one’s self as in Ghandi’s case).

The good news is that on the 12th Jupiter will trine Saturn exactly, but just days earlier it will be close enough together to form a Grand Trine with the moon on the 9th. This energy is reminiscent of the Grand Trine in July with Saturn, Jupiter and Neptune; but this time it will be the moon in Pisces, tapping into the creative, collective consciousness and allowing us to build something with solid structures. Jupiter is in Cancer and Saturn is in Scorpio, so this could be something concrete like a house that we share and feel a sense of responsibility in embarking on, or it could be that Jupiter allows us to grow nurturing and caring into any new structures being born. I was at a conference in November and heard Taylor Conroy, the CEO and founder of Change Heroes, speak. What fascinated me about his company was that it is a company designed to help educate and build schools in Kenya based on a model of Social Entrepreneurship. It’s a for-profit company, but I bought in. The reason is because I am thoroughly convinced, having worked for a non-profit and for government, that if I am paying 10% of my dollar or 35% or my salary for social reasons, that those driving it are entrepreneurial and therefore innovative and not numbed by process or bureaucracy! Oops, sorry! Just a little bit of my bias there! But here is my revolutionary two cents. If I were able to give my money to more non-profits and government who outsourced their social solutions (the front lines provide the services and solutions so I am not talking about them. I’m talking about the political leaders and civil servant management who have recently been found wanting) in this way, I don’t think I would have a problem. Taylor Conroy did a TED Talk, showing how he started a giving revolution with one text message… Truly innovative! But Taylor wasn’t paid until he actually found a solution that works, and still does not get paid unless that solution is working. And he was motivated to do so out of giving heart and an entrepreneurial spirit. Jupiter is still retrograde but in a trine to Saturn it is also enterprising. This is fantastic energy for philanthropic enterprises and we may see more of these social entrepreneurs pop up!

On the 11th Pluto is trine Pallas, making it possible for some transformative ideas to be born, but Mercury is also square Pallas. Our tongues might be tied making things come out all wrong or all garbled up in a “what am I trying to say” type of energy. It might take a day, but at least on the 12th Mercury will sextile Vesta, helping us to get to the point.

The full moon is on December 17th in Gemini. This is a story-teller moon and will be great for bringing together people for a heart-warming story or two, maybe even of a festive nature. That same day Uranus goes direct. It has been retrograde since July 17th and since it goes direct on this full moon in Gemini, we may hear some surprising communications or stories. Uranus is the planet of surprises; but also since Gemini rules vehicles and short distance travel AND it’s the festive season, I feel I have to tell you to drive carefully.

If ever there was a day for a festive party it’s December 18, the very next day. This is the smorgasbord transit. If you have a holiday party on this day, expect it to be over the top (lamb, escargot, maybe a pig with an apple in the mouth, pigs in a blanket, cabbage, cabbage rolls, broccoli, cheese, fondue, food, food, food). You may be over the top as well. Make sure you have Hailo or other taxi app handy on your phone so you can hail a cab if you drink a little too much; which you are likely to do, if you do drink. But even if it’s just food, you could be food drunk!

Venus goes retrograde on December 21. If you have large purchases or you’re planning a hairstyle change for the New Year, do it before the 21st. This is the fool’s gold transit, so Boxing Day shopping may seem like a bargain at the time, but may end up costing your more or you might absolutely hate your purchase a month into January when you realize that all that glitz is not gold.

Three Wise Men
Three Wise Men

And now for my most favourite days of the year, December 24 and 25! When I was a kid those days felt like they would never come. This year when they do, they will be very interesting. On December 24 the Sun is sextile Neptune making it a very imaginative day. If you can tap into your child-like imagination, the one that believed in Santa coming down the chimney and 12 reindeer able to fly in the sky (one with a shiny nose), we will benefit the most. I hope it snows on Christmas Eve. That always gets my good feelings and imagination going.

However, I don’t think this festive season will go down without a bit of drama and perhaps some strong push back. On Christmas Day Mars is opposite Uranus. This fiery combination will melt any snow that might have fallen! My best advice is to channel this energy into positive projects, initiatives or causes; ones that require liberating or freeing ourselves from negativity. If we ignore this energy or get caught up trying to suppress it to keep the balance (one expression of Mars in Libra) because it’s Christmas or because it’s that time of the year to “be nice”, it will find an expression anyhow and it might be an expression that is not so nice! Remember, Nemesis will be part of the picture contributing an opposition to Pluto on the 26th, so if we are thinking evil thoughts or are passive aggressive, they will manifest and come “right back at ya”! One way to channel this energy might be to put it into worthy causes and to use the energy available to us within the remainder of the week. Many people take the week of Christmas off, but if you’re in the office, December 26 and 27th are really great for ideas and team work. And if you’re not in the office, no problem! Just bring together your personal tribe and use the energy for your own projects. Mercury sextile Jupiter and the North Node make for great ideas and great teams. And Jupiter square Vesta on the 27th may give us a real zeal for a worthy cause. The Sun is conjunct Mercury on the 29th, making it an exceptionally social day. However, everyone may have a point of view or something to say on this day. We may be so strong and wrong on this day that we may be tempted to end conversations with others who have competing view points with statements like “that’s just how I see it!”.  Between the 29th and 30th Mercury and the Sun will also square Uranus, lending again to that revolutionary zeal. Keep it focused on the right issues and we will be okay. On the 30th, Mars will also square Pluto. Cripey! This is a power struggle combination. so 2013 will end with what looks like fireworks, but sounds very much like an explosion! If we keep our egos out of it and keep true to the Christmas spirit, the one that goes something like “peace on earth and good will to all men” and I will add “women”, we should be okay.

On New Year’s Eve Mercury is conjunct Pluto and square Mars in fairness seeking Libra. We might see a strong fight for fairness which will likely come across in words. This fight is coming up against some might with Mercury, the Sun and Pluto traveling together in Capricorn. There is a lot of “authority” here. It could again be government; laws or structures that represent this energy or it could be the patriarch in your family coming down heavy. Not to worry if you are on the heart side of things.

That’s it for December… Though it might be a rocky month, I do think good things are happening and I don’t think you have much to worry about, especially if you are coming from your highest self.

Crystals that will help the energy in December: Snowflake Obsidian will help us to see all situations clearly. It helps us to accept change and transformation. Carnelian helps to calm aggressiveness.

Gemstone Jewelry is a great gift for Christmas and a great way to strengthen your astrology.

Bonne Fete… Enjoy the Holiday Season, Keep safe.

READ WHAT’S GOING ON FOR EACH SIGN…..

ARIES

You can move through any emotional blocks or depression this month by exploring how your need for solid foundations work with or against your belief system. Your growing need to express yourself and your individuality can be met with conflicts in your personals relationships later in the month. If you have been taking shortcuts in your career this might also come up to bite you toward the end of the month. These conflicts all have a higher purpose though. To make sure you’re coming from your highest self rather than your ego.

TAURUS

You can work together well with others to hash out a project or plan that you are feeling on the humanitarian level. You might even get some funding from external sources like the bank or even Kickstarter. Set your intention for this at the full moon. Or if possible, start the application process then and work out the details later. Later in the month, work hard to uncover what is going on in your unconscious and try not to push your beliefs on others. That way you can avoid health issues or conflicts from others.

GEMINI

What do you want your personal relationship to look like? Set an intention or even a competitive goal and start working towards it this month.  You may be lacking discipline or your children might be the ones who are sidetracking you. At least that’s your excuse for not achieving all you hoped for in life. This will reach a pinnacle this month. There is no escaping it. Whatever the outcome, it will affect your jointly-held resources. This senerio might be why you love the lucky breaks you get at work mid month. Maybe it’s an end of year bonus and maybe everyone gets one too, but it will mean the world to you and you might find yourself doing a very public happy dance!

CANCER

Channel any need for escapism into expressing yourself in a creative endeavour. It may feel like hard work and that’s why you want to procrastinate. But once you get into it, you will find you can be very productive and expressive. If you feel like you’re on a roller coaster ride with your career or that someone is trying to undermine you, take a closer look at any unconscious childhood programming and take responsibility for the source of the conflict. You will be empowered by it and it will also serve as empowerment in your personal relationships.

LEO

You might experience intense emotions by a feeling that you have a guardian angel (you may have the sense that it’s grandmother, mother or even Mother Mary in the spirit world) helping you out when it comes to figuring out a situation related to your home or your parents. Or maybe you’re an unofficial parent in a situation and things related to that find a stroke of good luck! Whatever the case, express your gratitude openly, even if it feels like you are talking to the air. Towards the end of the month you might experience something that surprises you and kind of blows your mind from neighbours or your siblings. Take care of your health and perhaps work on things behind the scenes to avoid any conflicts.

VIRGO

You are setting new intentions and finding new ways to underpin your foundations. Conversations with partners and friends can be constructive in helping to pierce down through emotions and identify perceptions. The challenge is to hold the complexity of yours and others at the same time without making anyone wrong. I hope you’re not going through a divorce or settling an inheritance because things might blow up towards the end of the month.  Children may factor into this, physically or metaphorically. Yes, children come first, but just remember the oxygen in the airplane metaphor.

LIBRA

You have lots of ideas and you want to communicate them to the world! You may have an awesome career moment this month, but your attitude towards money and material things will either help or hinder you, if not now, then later down the line.  Also, it may seem like your partner is undermining you, but remind yourself that all that is without is within. Following the path of least resistance and having courageous and evolutionary conversations will help you to build strong foundations and get you where you need to go.

SCORPIO

Now is the time to check in with your values and your self-worth. Create a mantra that helps you reach for it. Also, think about writing something that taps into your inner child and helps you get in touch with yourself again. Or take a trip that is fun AND introspective at the same time. If you can include true service in those activities then you can make the most of the energies happening this month.

SAGITTARIUS

This month is a great time for setting intentions for new beginnings, but a large part of you still has some unfinished business. Massive “ahas” can be achieved this month through curling up at home with a good read and questioning yourself and where you have come thus far. New and innovative approaches to your creativity may be very threatening to your value system, and maybe that is what you are in the midst of figuring out. You will be challenged to coordinate your needs with others this month and may resent peer pressure.

CAPRICORN

You may feel like hiding out this month and to some extent it’s a good thing. Hide, but don’t isolate. You’ll need a sounding board to help you garner the courage for your breakout performance next month. Tapping into all of that unconscious material will make you more accurate in your gut reactions and can be used creatively with partners and friends. Later in the month, your personal expression might set off fireworks both at home and at work, so make sure your personal expression is being expressed consciously.

AQUARIUS

This month your ego might get in the way of your having a truly massive impact on others. Reconnecting with your true purpose and higher mission at the new moon will help you to align in helpful ways. In many ways you have reached the pinnacle of your success and now are able to channel them into creative outlets.  Non attachment is your secret weapon for success this month. Spend some time listening to Bob Marley to remind yourself of who you are.

PISCES

At the beginning of the month you are quite philosophical in a pragmatic sort of way. Very strange for the dual fish, but you are creating a vision and talking to everyone about it so that you can get people on board with an implementation plan within the next six months.  You’re also likely to get a little aggressive about funding or perhaps in making some kind of pitch for funding. Yes, it may be for a good humanitarian cause, but you’ll need to first acknowledge that you are on edge and then let your approach to it be evolutionary rather than a revolt.

November Horoscope 2013

November is a month of big developments and healing. The universe is going to facilitate a big announcement on November 1. It’s a big day with lots going on in the skies; the biggest aspect being the third in the series of squares between Pluto and Uranus. These guys have been moving back and forth in the skies and making exact aspects; the first two happened over the last year and a half. The first square left us reeling after an earthquake sent a wave across Fukushima, Japan, disrupting the nuclear power station. We saw Arab Spring and the Occupy movement. We have seen a greater focus on a hard to pin down enemy, homegrown terrorism both official, as part of terrorist plots, and unofficially with the misguided or deeply disturbed openings of fire. This Pluto-Uranus square will bring further development.

The good news is that the Sun is sextile pluto on the 1st and will be good for helping to clean up situations that have been or become disordered and confusing. It is a great combination for helping to clear up difficult situations. This, however, requires a level of consciousness and a concerted effort. If not, what may happen is a confrontation, because at the same time the Sun is in a difficult aspect to Uranus. I can’t stress enough, conscious expression is important or we might find ourselves in one big surprising situation.

The bad news is that Mercury will still be retrograde in Scorpio and in lots of aspects to other planets. With so much going on with Mercury we can expect words, possibly secrets, to come to light that will be a game changer. Over the last year and a half we have been stunned by actions and natural disasters, but with Mercury playing a big role in this Pluto-Uranus square, it will be words, not actions, that hit us hard. I have heard it said that “words” or “psychological abuse” is much harder to recover from than physical abuse… That is the power of words! We can expect to see words pack that kind of punch on this day. Mercury is sextile Pluto in Capricorn, promising the possibility of something being exposed, possibility in the government or other such institutions. Whatever it is, it will penetrate and have the kind of power in speech that will deeply impact the collective consciousness. The Sun, also in Scorpio conjunct Mercury, promises that the communication will be asserted with some degree of clarity. If you have ever experienced the sting of the scorpion, you will already know what this is like. Mercury sextile Mars, which is in Virgo, will help to ensure that it is honest and direct.  This is a no mincing words combination. As Iyanla Vanzant says, “let’s call a thing a thing, people.” The fact that Mercury is retrograde suggests that we are going over some old ground here and something will come to light that we just didn’t ever think.

On November 1 the Sun is also trine Chiron, so we can be sure that whatever happens, a spiritual awakening will occur. Chiron is in Pisces, so this will be a healing to the collective consciousness. Also, Venus is in truth-seeking Sagittarius trine Pallas in theatrical Leo.  I once had a conversation with a friend’s sister who was a bit of a quirky type; adorable, but quirky. She told me that when she is upset she likes to act it out in the mirror. I feel this may actually be a good way to use the Venus-trine-Pallas energy; expressing your creativity and allowing it to be mirrored back to you so that you can see the subtle patterns of truth and beauty in the situation.

So much astrology is gloom and doom or a report on what has happened using the planets and stars. Yet the energy of the planets, stars and asteroids is not so fatalistic. We do have choice and knowing and using the energy in enlightened ways is, I think, a positive way to use this sort of ethereal knowledge. So much of the time we say “Yeah…let’s do this, let’s do this! We have gotta change the world.”  Yet in reality we only point out the problems and complain about the issues.  We ourselves do not step forward in any real way to make the necessary changes. And so, I was so excited to hear of Marianne Williamson’s decision to become a politician last month. This is a woman who is stepping up! In my excitement I took a look at her natal chart and what I discovered is that more than a politician, Marianne is a mother to the world. Clan Mother! Clan Mother is a role in Iroquois tribes that I quite like. What I like is not just the idea that power was in the hands of a woman, but that the decision-making process was a different one, where the care of the children of the community was taken into consideration.  On the contrary, patriarchal decisions have a different agenda. I bring up Marianne and Clan Mother because I want to talk about a pattern that is forming in the skies on November 1. Uranus is forming difficult aspects and is inconjunction or quincunx to the Sun and Mars. The Sun and Mars are sextile. This configuration in astrology is called a “finger of God”.  Both the Sun and Mars are masculine planets and often represent men in a horoscope. They are sitting in Scorpio and Virgo respectively. Scorpio’s symbol is ♏ ˜and Virgo is ♍ –. Demetra George says that these “Ms” represent matter and in latin, matter’s meaning is “mother”. Right in between Virgo and Scorpio is Libra.

It is important to note that Libra was a patriarchal construct. Libra is the only sign that does not have an animal representing it; it has the balancing scales. In truth, Libra is the tail or the claw of the constellation of Scorpio and was once just a part of the sign Scorpio. The moon transiting in this claw or Chela is the release because it is opposite Uranus. So there the moon sits opposite to Uranus who is in an uncomfortable and in a tense position with the two boys who are in the arms of mother, or at the very least sitting in feminine signs, and having a nice conversation with one another about topics that may or may not be making much sense. Remember Mercury, the communication planet, is retrograde and conjunct the Sun. The moon definitely points to the solution to the tension here. The Libra moon is seeking balance.  Libra, or Chela, can hold on or “claw” to bad situations out of a need to keep the balance, but the hindi/sanscrit meaning of the same word Chela  is “a religious student”.  And maybe it is in this meaning that we should embrace.

In fact, I really feel that if the moon in Libra can step up and be courageous, we can make the most of the Solar eclipse, which happens three days later on November 3. All of the energy of November 1 will still be in effect, however, we have some further developments. The moon will have met up with the Sun at this point and will pass in front of it. All in all this eclipse is an incredibly healing eclipse. If you have ever done a detox diet and had a healing crisis, you will know that in the moment it doesn’t feel very good. In fact, you can feel downright awful. But what is actually happening is that your body is ridding itself of all of the toxins and is getting healthy. With Saturn conjunct the solar eclipse, this in fact, might be the feeling. Structures and things of old may be collapsing around you, but know that it is a part of a deep healing. Mercury is also conjunct the north node facilitating a move in the right direction, this is the path to our destiny.

Ceres will also move into Libra on the 3rd, the day of the solar eclipse, helping us to find the balance in nurturing and to bring about healing. There is, however, a couple of days when we can be thrown off balance. We feel cautious with nurturing on the 6th when Venus squares Ceres. Uranus will oppose Ceres on the 24th and may show up as an erratic emotional response; and Pluto will square Ceres on the 28th igniting separation anxiety.  We may hate the structures that are falling all around us, however, they are the devil we know and we may cling to them out of security at this point. The truth is, we are being challenged to let go in a very deep way.

Venus moves into Capricorn on November 5. Venus – the planet of love and attraction – in Capricorn gets a little materialistic but also cautious with money. If you are doing some Christmas shopping Venus sextile Neptune on the 7th gives a great appreciation of things of worth, however, Jupiter goes retrograde the same day. The better way to use this energy is to allow what you are seeing to inspire the depths of your soul.

Venus will also touch the Pluto/Uranus energy going on this month when it opposes Uranus, also sextiling Chiron on the 14th and conjunct Pluto on the 15th. Remember Venus represents love, but also money, so we may see something come to light with the markets and our own purse strings. If things get a little disordered, or even a lot disordered within these couple of days, we have a saving grace because on the 23rd Venus will sextile Saturn giving us an a small window for financial recovery and stability. It won’t last long though. On the 28th Venus will opposes Jupiter making us excessive and indulgent.

Mercury goes direct again on the 10th of November. Before it does, it will trine Neptune on the 9th and then trine it again on the 11th. An aspect during this time when Neptune changes directions makes it very potent and with this aspect, it is making us all a little more intuitive and a little more psychic than usual. This is the kind of communication that stays away from the logical mind, so if we are sensing something that we feel a need to be able to “prove in court”… don’t bother. Your sense perceptions are bang on, whether you can prove it or not! What we see, what we believe and what we understand will seem like a hall of mirrors in a couple of days later as Neptune also turns around and goes direct on the 13th making its power a little more potent as well. Neptune can create lies, illusions and foggy situations, but also inspiration and spiritual insight.  However, with Neptune opposed Pallas now in Virgo on the 16th, our perceptions and ability to see the big picture and the patterns, may be even more distorted.

Things will clear up the next day when Mercury is conjunct the north node again on November 17.  The moon will also be full on that day giving us a sneak peak at the new beginnings that took place with the eclipse. Mercury is sextile Pluto and trine Chiron on November 20 and conjunct Saturn on the 25th, taking us back over the November 1 eclipse points. When Mercury was retrograde communication may have been heard, but was not understood. Eclipse happenings will crystalize over these couple of days as Mercury goes over the same ground again.

All in all, November will be filled with lots of communication and healing. Sometimes clear, sometimes murky. Crystals that will help the energy this month include pink calcite, which aligns us with the divine mother and the divine feminine.

ARIES

On November 1 the tension happens in your first and tenth houses. If you can make the necessary adjustment in your partnerships the healing will begin, bringing you into deeper levels of intimacy at the solar eclipse. Something’s gotta give for this to happen.  Not easy for you with Uranus which is seeking freedom in self-expression. Towards the end of the month you may be tempted to go a little crazy at a workplace party. It might be fun in the moment, but consider all the work you’ve done and the impact on your career.
