Anywhere the struggle is great, the level of ingenuity and inventiveness is high. ` Eleni Zaude Gabre-Madhin
The August 19th full moon is at 27 degrees Aquarius. This is a highly charged full moon with many things related to community, friendships, humanitarianism and even politics coming to a head. Aquarius also rules technology and electricity. It rules energy, lightening telluric or ley lines and earthquakes.
The Moon is opposite Mercury which is cazimi the Sun. This gives Mercury some power as it is in the heart of the Sun. Mercury is also retrograde. This brings to light information about our leadership, royalty and even our children or our inner leadership, self-sovereignty and inner child.
The modern ruler of the full moon is Uranus. Uranus is in Taurus squaring the Moon in Aquarius on one side and the Sun, Mercury and Vesta in Leo and is opposite Pallas in Scorpio. We or others around us may have original, unique or innovative ideas. There are so many ideas that it makes it hard for us to focus; we will feel all over the place! We may also think, or feel rebellious. We are attached to our causes as Vesta gives us a feeling of dedication and even self-sacrifice for what we believe. And because Mercury, the Sun and Vesta are in Leo, we’ll likely come across as proud and boastful with a danger of it being over the top… This is because the moon is opposite all of these Leo planets, it is logical and fixed; doubting and questioning what we are thinking and saying and doing. It pushes our know-it-all buttons!
The traditional ruler of the full moon is Saturn. Saturn is in Pisces. Saturn in Pisces is testing our ability to connect with and face our subconscious and unconscious. It’s testing our ability to trust in life and trust the universe. Saturn is square to Jupiter in Gemini, which is expanding the amount of information that is coming towards us. We need to be discerning to sift through what is valuable and what is not. The problem is that Venus in Virgo is opposite Saturn and square Jupiter making us want to jump ship rather than face what is in front of us. Venus in Virgo, so it doesn’t mind analyzing things or sorting through the masses of information, but may freeze, get stuck or want to escape if the information surfaces which pushes on a guilt button or sense of perfection. This mutable T square is challenging us to stay present, look at the information presented stay with any emotions that arise and most of all be kind to ourselves and others.
The Sabian symbol is “A tree felled and sawed”. A tree is alive and serves many purposes. It connects with the soil, cleans the air, provides fruit, shade, and medicines, and it also provides warmth when cut and made into wood-burning logs. When you cut the tree, you are ending its life and its ability to provide those other functions. This Sabian symbol therefore reminds us to assess our needs and our situation well and to use resources wisely.
