For the Love of Money… the Goddess Route to Wealth

Juno MonetaBe Positive. Send Love. Have Fun. Kick Ass…This is what Marianne Williamson says is the key to wealth in her latest book,The Law of Divine Compensation.

Years ago, many of us ran out to buy the book The Secret, and then followed it up with some more books such as The Law of Attraction and The Law of Abundance.  We tried all the tips and tricks and yet many of us were left wondering why it seemed to work for others but not for us!  Tell one of the successful that it doesn’t work and the simple answer will be that ‘you are doing it wrong!’… But is this really true?

I loved Marianne Williamson’s new book and I thought I would use it as a framework for sharing how wealth works in astrology.  They are similar.

Be positive

Jupiter is the planet of faith, optimism and some would say luck.  Jupiter can bring money into your life because of the simple fact that being positive and faithful is attractive to the universe.  Actually, people operate in the same way… Let’s say you’re at work and your boss asks you to do something. If she has faith in you and is positive with you, I bet you tend to produce, right?  If your boss is negative, pessimistic and an all-in-all downer… you tend to want to run! This is also the case with the universe.

Send love
I have always wondered why Venus, the Goddess of Love, is connected not only with love in our charts, but also with money. Venus is beauty and beauty is attractive.  Venus is also love and love is attractive to both people and the universe.  But here is the truth with Venus.  Though there is natural beauty, the quest for beauty can be materialistic.  It’s the drive that has us go out and spend more than we have on designer labels, cosmetic surgery, procedure and way-too-expensive facial cream.  Love, on the other hand, is the easier and purest route to attractiveness.  And someone who is good at giving and receiving love is someone who has inner beauty.

The truth is that wherever Venus is in your chart is where you will easily attract and whereverJupiter is in your chart is where you will naturally have optimism and faith and will also attract.  In relationship houses, they will attract people, friends and love; and in the money houses, these two will attract money. If your money houses have no relationship to the wealth-attracting planets, then you may have some lessons to learn and you will have to work harder at it.

Going deeper with love
The Asteroid Juno is the Goddess of Marriage.  Juno Moneta, an epithet of Juno, was said to be the Goddess Protectress of Wealth.  What does the goddess of relatedness have to do with money?  Just as Venus is associated with love and money, Juno is also associated with the two. The mythological story of Juno Moneta has many versions, but all stories involve Juno Moneta protecting money by warning of invaders in some fashion.  On the old Roman mint coins, Juno Moneta is often shown holding a scale to measure money.  The scales are also the sign of Libra and are related to fairness andjustice, give and take.  In effect, Juno is protecting us from the takers and is a reminder that we must love ourselves.  The scales also remind us that we must give and take in balanced ways.  When we do not love ourselves and others the inner and outer scales are thrown out of balance and this is reflected in our wealth.  In the growing heart-centred economy, wealth is attracted to this kind of feminine power.

Have fun
I won’t lie, if you’ve got Jupiter in the fifth house or a nice transit from Uranus, the planet of surprises, and you take advantage by buying a lottery ticket, you may find yourself wealthier.  But for those of us who don’t have Jupiter placed there, we can still benefit from the fifth house. In general the fifth house is the house of fun, games, speculation and risk-taking.  We’ve all heard “do what you love and the money will follow”.  When you are doing the things that you find fun, hours can go by and you hardly notice.  Doing what you love lights you up and feeds your soul. The fifth house is also associated with the Sun and your Sun sign is who you are at your essence.  Just being who you are and doing what you love is wealth-attractive!

Kick ass
Well, let’s face it, if you wait around for things to happen then you might be waiting forever. Likewise, if you don’t respect what you have, how will you respect what you get?  So you need a little Saturn (groundedness, hard work and diligence) and a little Mars (initiative and drive). This is especially so if none of those attractive planets are in the money houses. (The money houses, by the way, are the second and eighth houses.)Good relationships with these two planets in your chart can help you in getting to where you want to go.  But even if you have great placements in your chart, unless you apply for that job, you’re not going to get it.  Unless you buy that lottery ticket, you are not going to win.Kicking ass means you’ve got to put some energy into it.

So what does this all mean? Am I doing it right or am I doing it all wrong?
If you are being positive, giving love, having fun and kicking ass, then you’re probably doing it right.  If you find any of these difficult, check out your birth chart for hints on how to overcome any difficulties.  Maybe these are areas for your spiritual growth.

Is love money? Is money love?

Just remember, money is only one manifestation of love and it will be easier for those with great planetary placements within money houses. Other manifestations of love include great family, great friends, help when you need it, work that you love, appreciation, helping others… and so on and so on and so on.  In the end, you can’t take it with you, so enjoy it in whatever form wealth arrives in your life!
