Chiron in Aries–Taurus: Healing Through Masculine–Feminine Integration

The healing power of the threshold

Photo by Art Institute of Chicago on Unsplash

When I was four years old, I remember standing in the doorway of the hallway speaking to my father, very directly and clearly about something that was on my four-year-old mind. His response was immediate. It was anger… I was not to speak to him like that. I remember feeling very confused. My four-year-old mind could not figure out what was so offensive – I was just speaking my mind. Nonetheless, his response left me confused and fearful to speak up again. Worse, because I could not identify what was so offensive, I shut up about everything. Shortly after, I developed tonsillitis. It got so bad that I had to have my tonsils removed.

I remember being in the hospital, lying in the bed, the doctor asking me to count. I don’t know if I even reached seven, but when I woke up, I was in the corner of the surgery room inside what I can only describe as an incubator. I screamed in fear – a painful wrong move for my newly tonsil-free throat.

These were some of my earliest memories. The year was 1975, and Chiron was at 27 degrees of Aries transiting in my second house (the house of self-worth and physically, the throat) in a sextile with my ascendant and trine with my 6th house (house of health) Sun1.

Chiron is the wounded healer and teacher. In myth, Chiron taught war, hunting, archery, medicine and music. Astrologically, Chiron is often prominent during illness and surgery, and that was the case for me. Chiron has a 50-year cycle. It is now 50 years later, and Chiron is again sextile to my ascendant and trine my Sun. And you guessed it, another surgery. This time, my Venus-ruled throat was not the issue; it was my Venus-ruled uterus.

Oh, I forgot to say, natally, my Aries Chiron in the first house is opposite my Venus in Libra in the 7th house. Aries is ruled by Mars, which is our will, actions, motivation and drive, and Venus is our worth and self-esteem. It rules the throat and the womb. Nothing embodies the wounds of the Mars/masculine and Venus/Feminine more than this alignment.

It’s also timely to share this experience, because on June 19th, Chiron will move from Aries to Taurus. It will dip in and out. And it’s this dipping in and out of Aries and Taurus that I want to speak about because it brings up the collective masculine/feminine, male/female, Mars/Venus wounds.

Chiron’s transit:

Chiron is currently in Aries

Chiron in Taurus June 19, 2026 – Sept 18, 2026.

Chiron in Aries Sept 18, 2026 – April 14, 2027

Chiron in Taurus April 14, 2027 – July 2033

The last eight years of Chiron in Aries has been all about the wounds around our movement and actions. Medically, Aries rules the head (the corona), self-expression, the individual, small businesses – especially entrepreneurs. Chiron in Aries coincided with the coronavirus, but the wounds extended beyond the medical expressions of illness. Our movements were limited, and our self-expression and individuality were thwarted as a result. Some faired better with this than others, happy to merge with the hive mind, while if you were freedom-leaning, you felt the wound profoundly. All small entrepreneurial enterprises were negatively affected and many lost their business. In fact, it was one of the greatest wealth transfers (to the 1%) of all time… Some healing came out of it, too… Locked up in our houses, the tables were turned, and we became the zoo for animals to roam around, curiously peering in our windows. The air cleared from reduced pollution, and we slowed down and baked bread. What a metaphor that was…active yeast. And when that ran out, we learned how to ferment sourdough…. a Mars expression to be sure.

So what can we expect as Chiron moves into Taurus? It will bring up wounds around our sense of worth, security, and food. It will also bring up wounds around beauty. Medically, it rules the throat and the womb. I will talk more about that in a moment. Finally, it rules women’s issues…

When Chiron was in Aries in the 1970’s, the famous Roe vs Wade decision was made in 1973, which constitutionalized the right to abortion at the federal level in the United States. Chiron was only discovered in 1977. It was there, of course, in 1973, but was not in our awareness, so when this decision was made, we didn’t have the benefit of Chironic understanding at the time. During Chiron’s return to Aries in 2022, that decision was reversed on June 24, 2022, in the landmark decision Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (Chiron was square Ceres in Cancer). It removed it from the Constitution, making abortion to the State level perogative. Similarly, a law decriminalizing abortion occurred in Canada at the beginning of Chiron in Aries in 1969. But it came with strict criteria. Dr. Henry Morgentaler ignored that criteria and ended up with a criminal charge. But in 1984 at the very end of Chiron in Aries, Dr. Henry Morgentaler was acquitted by a jury. That ruling opened up abortion in Canada completely. Nothing changed in Canada around abortion during the recent Chiron in Aries transit. Instead, Canada saw the expansion of laws around assisted suicide.

The Chiron in Aries wound… the right to bodily autonomy vs the right to life (or, as the case may be, death). While this may seem like a Venus issue having to do with the womb and what happens inside of it, it’s the energy of Mars – of initiation and action and the Aries energy of beginning and putting something in motion that became the crux of the wound.

The impact of Chiron in Aries was huge… but it didn’t make the blockbusting aspects that Chiron will make while it is in Taurus. While Chiron is in Taurus, it will be conjunct with Saturn, and it will square Pluto in Aquarius… and it will do so at the same time. This will happen in 2028. While it is difficult, likely painful energy. It falls within the context of a lot of other astrological help.

I want to return to my story, because it will help to explain the movement from Aries to Taurus. As I mentioned, the second time around, the issue manifested in my uterus instead of my throat… why was this so?

The Aries glyph ♈looks like the uterus and the throat. And I find it amazing that when a baby is forming in the womb, a link to the throat and uterus shows up during the first days of formation… day 15. How strange to learn that they are connected.

Here’s what an AI Search say:

Embryological Link: Both the throat and the reproductive organs (including the uterus) develop from similar embryonic tissue during early development. Around day 15 of embryogenesis, two depressions form—one at the head end (leading to the mouth and throat) and one at the tail end (forming the urogenital and anal regions).

Anatomical and Functional Similarities: The Latin word cervix means “neck”—referring both to the cervical spine (neck) and the cervix of the uterus. The tissues of the throat and cervix/vagina share structural and functional similarities, including responsiveness to hormonal changes and involvement in passage regulation (e.g., swallowing vs. childbirth).

Nervous System Connection: The vagus nerve, known as the “wanderer,” travels from the brainstem down through the neck and thorax and has sensory branches that extend to the cervix and uterus. This nerve connects bodily functions across distant regions, influencing both vocalization (throat) and pelvic organ activity.

Muscular and Respiratory Coordination: The diaphragm and pelvic floor move in coordination with breathing. Relaxation of the throat and jaw during vocal toning (e.g., humming, sighing) can promote relaxation of the pelvic floor and cervix, commonly used in labour and birthing practices.

Energetic and Holistic Perspectives: In some holistic and yogic traditions, the throat (site of expression) and womb (site of creation) are seen as energetically linked, with vocal expression believed to influence pelvic tension and emotional release.

In medical astrology, Mars initiates all activity in the womb, including menstruation and fertility. An imbalance with Mars will lead to imbalances in the womb: heavy bleeding, inflammation, fibroids, and issues with fertility and inflammation. Venus can also affect these areas, but often Mars is too little or too much. It is easy to see these issues in the womb, but they also show up in the throat as they did early in my life… if we stifle (a mars-related activity) our voice (our throat) or our sexuality (uterus), we stifle creativity. And we know the next step is mercury-ruled communication. It is through sex (via mercurial DNA) or words that we create.

If we take out the politically charged womb side of things and focus on the throat, where we can find a comfortable metaphor…

The question we need to answer for us to heal… do we initiate too much, or not enough? Do we stifle initiation, abort actions… AND, when is it healthy to do so? And in what measure? What needs to be vocalized and fertilized? And what internal or external limits are being imposed on that vocalization?

I want to take this post a little deeper because, as Chiron moves into Taurus, we have him holding hands with his wife, Asteroid Chiroklo.

I’ve been deeply experiencing her energy because in her 63-year orbit, she is currently at 26 degrees of Aquarius, conjunct my ascendant. She made a sextile to Chiron in April of this year, and as Chiron moves into Taurus, she will be there to hold his hand several more times as Chiron moves back and forth in Aries and Taurus. Chiroklo brings support and an innovative and loving container for the back-and-forth motion.

Melanie Rehnhart has done a lot of work on Chiroklo and her discovery chart. Discovery charts are the moment when a planetary body comes into our awareness. Chiroklo’s is amazing. When she was discovered, the planets, including Chiroklo, formed a Merkaba. A Merkaba is also called a star of David in astrology and forms a 6-pointed star. In astrology, this represents balanced energy. Interpreted through the Egyptian root of the word, Mer (light), Ka (spirit), and Ba (body), it represents the union of these forces. It’s the masculine represented by the upward triangle (fire) and the feminine represented by the downward triangle (water) combined. When they unite, they bring together all of the elements and create movement.

As Chiron moves back and forth in the Mars energy of Aries and the Taurus wounds of Taurus, Chiroklo lends her balanced support.

I’ll tell you how Chiroklo showed up in my surgery. I was given the option of being put under, inhaling anesthesia, local freezing and/or regular pain killers. I opted to move forward without any drugs, with the option to gauge my needs along the way and take drugs if required. There was the doctor, and about 60 degrees away from her on one side was the nurse. About 60 degrees on the other side was the “chaperon” who ended up coaching me through the pain and being a quiet and cheerful support…. she was my Chiroklo.

There is a benefit to feeling through the pain. I was able to see on the camera what was surgically going on, and it helped me to connect with my body and with the energy of what was going on, and strangely, with the healing beyond the physical that needed to be acknowledged and healed.

Similarly, as we move back and forth through the Chiron in Aries and Chiron in Taurus energy, we will have Chiroklo’s support through whatever wounds arise, whether they are physical, emotional or societal wounds.

Leo Full Moon – Feb 12, 2025

The Full Moon is in Leo at 24 degrees Leo. Leo rules leadership, royalty and high society. It rules children, play, sports, games and any form of amusement. It’s connected to theatre and drama. It’s luxury, gold, and high-quality art. Leo can be egotistical or at least the center of attention and humility can be hard to come by.

The Full Moon in Leo is conjunct with Atropos and Praamzius (a transneptunian object). It is square Juno in Scorpio and Uranus in Taurus and is also opposite Mercury and the asteroids Ceres and Sappho.

The full moons are always about conclusions. They are always about endings. But this full moon seems to embody a deeper finality. Much of the asteroid myth surrounding this full moon points to this. Praamzius comes from Lithuanian mythology and is a creation god, associated with the creation of sky and earth. He oversees natural order and the cosmos. Praamzius’s key role is to be in charge of time. Atropos is one of the three fates, the goddesses of fate and destiny. Know as the ‘the Inflexible One’, she worked with her two other sisters – one spun the thread of life, the other measured the length and Atropos cut the thread, therefore, ending the life. She was the Greek version of the Grim Reaper! Together Praamzius and Atropos conjunct the full moon seem to speak of a cycle coming to a close. The time has come. Everything has it’s season… Atropos cuts the cord and we are invited to do the same.

The cosmos moves in cycles so things don’t truly die, but their current form does. It dies and gives way to a new form.

The moon is square to Uranus in Taurus and Juno (the marriage asteroid) in Scorpio. Juno in Scorpio craves intensity and emotional bonding with her partner. If this is lacking she is prone to insecurities that make her act out with jealousy and control. With the moon in Leo square to Juno, we definitely feel this insecurity. If we pay attention to it, these insecure feelings will help us to recognize that we are not getting what we need. Juno is opposite Uranus in Taurus. This brings in a need for an evolved relationship. One where there is freedom and likely an unconventional approach. If the relationship has not evolved, this may show up with an on-and-off again quality to the relationship bringing in an even deeper feeling of insecurity. The moon square to Uranus gives us a clue. This erratic nature might be originating from within! Maybe all that is required is a conversation to end this erratic dance. Or maybe it’s time to admit that things are out of alignment. Values may not be shared, emotional needs do not match, or levels of consciousness are mismatched. But the bigger question is… is it all a projection?

Opposite the Full Moon is a group of energies that we need to consider and incorporate. Ceres, also deeply connected to cycles was the mother of Persephone, who had been tricked by Hades after following him to the underworld, into eating pomegranate seeds. This caused her to not be able to leave. Ceres mourning her daughter’s disappearance, caused drought and starved the land. Eventually, the people begged for Hades to release Persephone so that Ceres would let it rain again and so that crops would grow. An agreement was struck. Persephone would have to spend half the year in the underworld and the other she could come to the land of the living to spend with her mother. The message here is clear. A compromise is needed.

This compromise does not mean that you need to remain in the same situation. A new reality emerges from this compromise. Where none existed before… this comprise will bring about seasons. Maybe this means, as it did for Ceres, a custody agreement – while you will move on with your life, this deal will mean that something is still kept, but in a new reality.

Mercury conjunct the Sun and Ceres opposite the moon not only brings feelings of loss, and we may doubt and question ourselves. Again, getting in touch with what we are feeling will be extremely important. Make sure you have the tools to process your emotions.

Also, we are cautioned to be kind when speaking and to only speak when we have something nice to say or when we feel the love behind our words. Emotional consciousness will help us in our ability to fulfill that order! Not every idea that enters your mind needs to be said! We are also filled with so many ideas, many of them about our future, but there is a time to share these ideas and a time to keep them to yourself!

The asteroid Sappho is opposite the moon. Sappho was a poet who wrote poetry that was meant to be sung. She was a real person, but was immortalized as “the tenth muse”. Her only poem that exists in full is the Ode to Aphrodite – it is suspected that she primarily wrote love poetry. Her presence reminds us that we can process our emotions creatively. Use the Leo energy to write a poem or process and express your emotions through song. The vibration of singing will help to soothe… but if you do sing, consider doing it in a mirror to the audience of yourself!

The Sabian symbol for the Full Moon is A large camel crossing the desert. This Sabian symbol speaks of self-sufficiency. In the camel’s back is water. Of this Dane Rudhar says that “ to be released from bondage to the ‘old world’ we should be completely self-contained emotionally; having absorbed the mental food which this old culture has given us, we are ready to face ‘the desert,’ nothingness (Sunya) until we reach the ‘new world.’

Without doubt, we are all entering a new world. The Leo energy represents the old world we must release… the ego, the fame, the old leadership, an overdue romantic relationship or the drama that we have become comfortable and used to. As we move to Aquarius, we enter the desert for a time…. And emotional self-sufficiency is the key!

Happy Full Moon in Leo!

New Moon in Aquarius – Jan 29, 2025

New moon in Aquarius

The new moon is at 9° Aquarius. Aquarius rules humanity, humanitarianism and people in general. Aquarius is freedom, awakening and breakthroughs. It rules friends, acquaintances, groups and organizations… and it rules the rebellion of said. Aquarius rules energy, electricity, computers and innovations. It disrupts and creates change. Aquarius is also the Angel holding the cup pouring out spirit. In this regard, Aquarius is a time of spiritual awakening of the gnostic sort, as Aquarius is an air sign connected with thoughts and the mind. At this new moon, we can set intentions around energy, the use of energy. Society and the way in which society operates. We can also have breakthroughs and spiritual awakenings.

The New Moon is trine Jupiter in Gemini. It is with the asteroid Apophis and also with Icarus. The new moon is also opposite the asteroid Karma at 9 degrees of Leo.

Clan Mother Worldwide’s Substack is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

The New Moon trine to Jupiter in Gemini makes this a very positive New Moon. It brings joy, optimism, and expansion. We are filled with ideas and are in brainstorming mode. Now is the time to form a think tank and imagine a new world. No idea is stupid! Throw everything at the wall to see what sticks…. be nutty and strange in service to the new age!

Aquarius would like to remind you that intentions must be in service of humanity and also be in everyone’s best interest. Attitude will be very important as we set our goals and formulate our innovations. The asteroids Apophis and Icarus conjunct the Sun bringing in two opposing energies. Aphosis comes from Egyptian Mythology and is a large snake that nightly overpowers and swallows the Sun. Icarus on the other hand comes from Greek mythology. In trying to escape a situation, Icarus and his father decide they need to fly over the palace where they are trapped. But Icarus’s wings are made of wax and feathers. Flying too close to the Sun will melt them and flying too low will wet his wings causing him to not be able to fly. In the end, Icarus flies too close to the Sun and ends up falling into the ocean to meet his death.

In astrology, the Sun is ruled by Leo and opposite this New Moon is the asteroid Karma in Leo. Aquarius is actually the sign of the Sun’s fall. Aquarius is not a time or place for focusing on self. Karma opposite the New Moon reminds us that the days of showing off, of ego, of me first and of pushing everyone aside so that you can be the star are done. Doing so will melt your wings. On the other hand, darkness can also swallow us up causing us to forget that we indeed can and do shine. Don’t forget yourself by put your light out completely… Just be humble with it!

The ruler of the new moon is Uranus which is in Taurus sitting at the midpoint between Venus in Pisces and Mars retrograde in Cancer. This is creating a mini grand trine and is allowing Mars and Venus to work together. Venus is exalted in Pisces. In Pisces, she is spiritual, unconditionally, and sees the beauty within. She is the Temple Priestess offering her rose and she has the potency to soften Mars if he allows it. Mars is in its fall in Cancer. Venus can teach Mars mercy, generosity, honour and charity. Mars is also currently retrograde, making it a good time for the masculine to consider its actions. If Mars can work with Venus, Uranus in Taurus, one of Venus’ other home signs, can provide a loving breakthrough for the sacred masculine. This energy plays out both within and without. We are encouraged to work with masculine and feminine both in terms of our spiritual growth and in terms of healing society.

This brings us to the final asteroid involved with this New Moon. Vesta in Scorpio is almost exactly square to the New Moon. Vesta, the Vestal Virgin is a Roman goddess who is associated with faith, family, and domestic order. She is the holder of the sacred flame and is often seen as boring and celibate. Her Greek counterpart was Hestia who was strongly connected with feminine modesty. Vesta in Scorpio wants to remind us that before the Greeks and the Romans came along (and Christianity), the Vestal Virgins in Egypt and going back into Mesopotamia were the temple priestess; the Sacred Whore.

The term “sacred whore” is not oxymoronic. If we explore the etymology of the words “whore” or “harlot,” we find that the split between “priestess” and “prostitute” is a relatively recent one. In her book When God Was A Woman, Merlin Stone informs us that the Hebrew word zonah means both prostitute and prophetess. Barbara Walker, in her Dictionary of Woman’s Myths and Secrets, points out that the Hebrew word hor means a cave, pit, or dark hole. The Spanish word for whore, puta, derives from the Latin term for a well, but the Latin term for grave, literally “a hole in the earth,” is puticuli, meaning womb of rebirth These terms for whore were not derogatory.

The Latin term had its root in the Vedic, an early Sanskrit language, wherein the word puta is defined as pure and holy. The cave, the pit, the hole, and the bottomless black lake were metaphors for the Great Goddess, She who is unnameable, that darkness primordial from which all life (light) is born. She is the Everything and The Nothing – – Hole-y, Holy, Wholly. The Sacred Whore at work was, in fact, the manifestation the Great Goddess. ~ Diana Rose Hartman*

The feminine, the sacred feminine and the Goddess have been repressed. In particular, sexuality within the Goddess; Virgin didn’t mean chaste, but rather unmarried. In this same article Hartman shares that the masculine and feminine are out of balance and this has caused the repressed sexual energy of the Goddess to lead to violence. She believes that the survival of the world depends on the reclamation of the female aspect of the deity, with the Sacred Whore or prostitute representing expansive creative force. At this New Moon, this sexual virginal energy is seeking expression and is in a square not only to the New Moon but also to the asteroid Karma. Many, including myself, believe that Aquarius is deeply connected to Mary Magdelene, who was accused of being a prostitute and was likely a sacred temple priestess. This energy is calling for the healing of the sacred sexual goddess as we move deeper into Aquarian energy. She is reminding us to find balance and to incorporate the sacred feminine into our New Moon intentions.

The Sabian Symbol is ‘A popularity that proves ephemeral’. Rudhyar says of this Sabian symbol that it represents the “star” on the movie screen who is not the actual person. When the star’s popularity fades away, the person remains. we are left to reflect on what this episode of popularity has done to or for the person. This again reminds us of the Aquarian ideals of being humble, being a friend and thinking not just about ourselves.

Happy New Moon in Aquarius!

* This quote comes from an article I have had on a bookmark for years. It was written in 1997 and I have read it over and over over during the last 15 or so years. Two years ago before my trip to France exploring the path of Mary Magdalene, I wanted to share this article. The website was still up, but the page for this article was not. I decided to check the Wayback Machine, where all web pages since 1996 have been archived. I was able to take a screenshot of the pages and send them to my fellow travellers. In writing this article, I went again to search for the web pages on the Wayback Machine and this time the Wayback Machine said that the pages were not archived. I searched my computer and found the images instead.

Sadly, knowledge is being destroyed or lost. This was likely lost in the recent Wayback Machine hack in 2024. If you would like to read this powerful article in full, please message me and I will send you my screenshots of the article.
