New Moon – Sept 2, 2024

September New Moon

The new moon on September 3 is at 11° of Virgo. Virgo rules routines, health, work, and service. It rules details, organization and planning. Virgo is meticulous and fussy. At this New Moon, we can set intentions around any of these areas.

This new moon widely squares Jupiter and opposes Saturn. The square to Jupiter may make us prone to over-promising so you will need to be extra careful when setting your intentions. Jupiter will make us feel that we can do more than what we actually can. The opposition to Saturn however, brings some measure of structure and restriction and is asking us to contain or at least make sure that our approaches are not unrealistic or fantasy. The trick to these two is to have an equal dose of optimism and structure and to not allow any pessimism or pushback to burst your bubble and stop you from moving forward.

The ruler of the New Moon is Mercury, which has recently gone direct. During the retrograde phase, we likely did a review of our creative projects and our leadership role within them. By now we should be clear and at this new moon, we have a perfect opportunity to set intentions around moving forward. It’s also a good time to start writing, initiate communications, and sign contracts. We have the green light to move forward with projects and plans. The new moon in Virgo will help us to dive into the details, get organized, and see into the nifty-gritty, making sure that we are not making mistakes or overlooking details.

Mercury the full moon ruler, is sextile to Mars and Jupiter, making it easy to put things into action. It’s also giving us a boost to learn new things and to have fun while doing it. If your project involves learning something new, this aspect will help you to come up to speed fast! Mercury is also trine to Chiron, the wounded healer. Any wounds suffered in the past can now be channelled into our projects, our communications and any plans we make. For instance, you may feel the need to write about a painful experience which you’ve now learned from and will help others. Or you may want to create teaching videos, sharing the lessons you have learned. Mercury is squaring your Uranus, which is giving us a lot of unusual and innovative ideas. Some of the ideas will be ingenious, but a square to Uranus can cause us to lose the idea just as quickly as we receive them! You’ll need to walk around with a pen and paper or a voice recorder ready to keep up with your mind and to capture everything.

Virgo is related to health, and at this particular new moon, we can direct our health towards mental health or better said, spiritual health. The reason is that the asteroid Apollo is conjunct with this new moon. Apollo’s motto was “Know thy self“ It was a dictum carved in stone on his shrine in Delphi. But how do we go about knowing ourselves? This requires going within and examining our values, desires, and goals including our shadows, or anything lurking in our unconscious that stops or sabotages our goals. Asteroid Apollo gives us the energy needed to raise our consciousness. Doing so will help us to understand who we are at the deepest level, and this can be beneficial in allowing us to infuse our intentions and projects with expressions of our true selves. Using the Virgo energy to help sift through, categorize, clear and discard anything no longer needed.  Be reminded, however, that Virgo can also be judgmental and perfectionist challenging us as we sift through unconscious matters. Remember that you don’t need to be perfect or pure! Perfectionism is the enemy of progress!

Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without. ` Confucius

The Sabian symbol for this new moon is “ a husband snatches away his new wife’s veil”. If we are truly being ourselves, as we inevitably will be after marriage, we show all of ourselves the good the bad and the ugly. This Sabian symbol serves as a reminder of the love we can experience, warts and all when we love and accept all parts of ourselves and others.

Aquarius Full Moon – Aug 19, 2024

Anywhere the struggle is great, the level of ingenuity and inventiveness is high. ` Eleni Zaude Gabre-Madhin

The August 19th full moon is at 27 degrees Aquarius. This is a highly charged full moon with many things related to community, friendships, humanitarianism and even politics coming to a head. Aquarius also rules technology and electricity. It rules energy, lightening telluric or ley lines and earthquakes.

The Moon is opposite Mercury which is cazimi the Sun. This gives Mercury some power as it is in the heart of the Sun. Mercury is also retrograde. This brings to light information about our leadership, royalty and even our children or our inner leadership, self-sovereignty and inner child.

The modern ruler of the full moon is Uranus. Uranus is in Taurus squaring the Moon in Aquarius on one side and the Sun, Mercury and Vesta in Leo and is opposite Pallas in Scorpio. We or others around us may have original, unique or innovative ideas. There are so many ideas that it makes it hard for us to focus; we will feel all over the place! We may also think, or feel rebellious. We are attached to our causes as Vesta gives us a feeling of dedication and even self-sacrifice for what we believe. And because Mercury, the Sun and Vesta are in Leo, we’ll likely come across as proud and boastful with a danger of it being over the top… This is because the moon is opposite all of these Leo planets, it is logical and fixed; doubting and questioning what we are thinking and saying and doing. It pushes our know-it-all buttons!

The traditional ruler of the full moon is Saturn. Saturn is in Pisces. Saturn in Pisces is testing our ability to connect with and face our subconscious and unconscious. It’s testing our ability to trust in life and trust the universe. Saturn is square to Jupiter in Gemini, which is expanding the amount of information that is coming towards us. We need to be discerning to sift through what is valuable and what is not. The problem is that Venus in Virgo is opposite Saturn and square Jupiter making us want to jump ship rather than face what is in front of us. Venus in Virgo, so it doesn’t mind analyzing things or sorting through the masses of information, but may freeze, get stuck or want to escape if the information surfaces which pushes on a guilt button or sense of perfection. This mutable T square is challenging us to stay present, look at the information presented stay with any emotions that arise and most of all be kind to ourselves and others.

The Sabian symbol is “A tree felled and sawed”. A tree is alive and serves many purposes. It connects with the soil, cleans the air, provides fruit, shade, and medicines, and it also provides warmth when cut and made into wood-burning logs. When you cut the tree, you are ending its life and its ability to provide those other functions. This Sabian symbol therefore reminds us to assess our needs and our situation well and to use resources wisely.

Capricorn Full Moon – July 21, 2024

Capricorn Full Moon

The Full Moon is at 29° Capricorn on July 21, 2024 – The full moon is at the last critical degree of Capricorn. This is a time for letting go of structures that no longer serve us. Capricorn rules structures, our reputation, ambitions, rules and regulations. It also rules large corporations and governments, and old money. Capricorn is connected with time, clocks, and archeology. Capricorn is said to be a feminine sign and is associated with grandmother energy.

The full moon is also conjunct Pluto at the critical degree of zero in the next sign of Aquarius. Both Capricorn and Aquarius are traditionally ruled by Saturn. Saturn is karmic! Have you done the work, learned the lesson and grown personally and spiritually? Something is ending and another is beginning. This full moon is its completion time. It makes clear what’s done and what needs to be carried forth. With Pluto conjunct with this full moon, it will bring that transformation into Aquarius.

My barn having burned down, I can now see the moon. ~ Mizuta Masahide

The barn has burned down, now we can see the moon! Take a good look at the view and feel deeply the benefit of all that has ended. Feel the relief, the sadness, the opportunity, the shock. Feel it all!

The full moon is making a trine to Mars and Uranus and this gives us help in breaking through and breaking free. This is helpful because Capricorn doesn’t like to feel emotions; the moon in Capricorn is in its detriment… but the karmic release will be powerful if we do.

The full moon is also sextile to Neptune connecting us to the guidance of spirit. Maybe we hear the whispers of our grandmothers or our ancestors. Listen as they have wisdom to share. Hear their ancestral wounds. The ones that you also share. You have an opportunity to witness them and to transform them at this time.

The wounds are likely around father, patriarchy, and being punished for standing up for yourself and standing in your truth. The full moon is conjunct asteroid Kassandra. Kassandra was the unrequited love of Apollo. Because she did not return his love, he gifted her with the ability to see the future, but also cursed her so that nobody would believe her. Apollo was vengeful and abused his power. Kassandra suffered for setting her boundaries and being true to herself. But Kassandra wasn’t the only one who suffered. Those who would benefit from hearing her prophesies and taking heed also suffered. They were also denied the advantages of forewarning. With Kassandra at the full moon, we have a chance to come to terms with all of the times we have stood up for ourselves, and have been punished. We will also shed tears for all the times we were not heard or could not get through to others to help them. At this full moon something related to these old patriarchal and unfair structures; the Apollos of the world, will come to a head and a culmination. This is further supported by the Sabian symbol for the full moon “Directors of a large firm meet in secret conference”. Yaaaaa… they are meeting in secret… and trust me, this is an emergency meeting as those large institutions will face the biggest transformation! This may also be a meeting of the highest counsel… those in the angelic or alien (whichever resonates with you) realm, making critical decisions for humanity.

I’ll also share the Sabian symbol for Pluto at 0 degrees of Aquarius. It’s “An old Adobe mission”. The Old Adobe Mission in Scottsdale Arizona was built in the early 1900’s with adobe brick of clay and straw and competed with the community spirit. The women in the community fund-raised and supported the workers with food, water and encouragement, with one woman in particular spearheading the movement. This Sabian symbol tells us that the power is shifting into the community. And there is transformative power in community and helpfulness. If you decide to have a community event, Venus is sextile Jupiter at the full moon making it a perfect day to bring together fun, learning, adventure and beauty!

Happy Full Moon in Capricorn!
