So you’ve been called to travel somewhere, and it seems scary. Maybe it’s not the most ideal place, or it has a reputation. Maybe your friends or family are telling you not to go. You hear echoes of “it’s dangerous,” “why would you go there,” and they may even go on to tell you in fine detail about someone they know who had a bad experience.
This was the case for me when I went to Egypt. It was COVID, travel was a nightmare, and I was going alone. Was I crazy?
Not only that, but I looked at my locational chart and my transits, and I was terrified…
So, how do you know when a place is spiritually calling you? And if it’s calling, how do you answer?
Here are some ideas:
You feel like you have to go despite all logic
The key is to understand what lies at the heart of your intentions to go. Is it to do something purposeful? To heal? Or to escape? If it’s to escape, then perhaps it’s not the right thing to do.
For me, something was pulling me to Egypt. An opportunity to attend a Matias De Stephano event had come up. But I didn’t really know him or his work. I’d come across it before, but I was not a “follower”. The only thing I knew was that the event promised time in the Great Pyramid at night and a chance to connect and repair the nodes of Earth…whatever that meant! Things were pretty bad around the world.. And for me, meditating in the Great Pyramid and fixing the nodes of the earth felt like a good thing to do. It felt high vibrational, and I wanted to be in and expand that energy!
You have a transit to a natal planet (or an asteroid), and the lines of that planet run through the area you are called to visit
My astrology in going to Egypt was mixed… but there was one thing that stood out that made me know it was a yes. I was experiencing my Chiron Return… Chiron was transiting back to my natal Chiron to the exact degree!
Where does my Chiron line cross in locational astrology? You got it… Cairo Egypt.
When you have a transit to a planet (or in this case, a significant asteroid) and you go to the place on Earth where that locational line is, it can be powerful.
In the case of Chiron, travelling to the Chiron line is an opportunity to grow in wisdom – it’s the kind of wisdom you get from addressing your deepest wounds. It’s an opportunity to do healing work. Having done the work, it may lead to opportunities to teach from that place of healing…. that’s what Chiron is all about. Chiron is the wounded healer. Doing this healing also has the potential to offer new paths for the future, and often in the process, you will meet significant people who will help you on your path.
And that is exactly what happened. In going to Egypt, I met my Atlantis family, and was healing an Atlantis wound!
Transits to your natal chart or locational chart connect to your north node
At the time of my travel, the nodes were squaring my Sun, and the Sun was conjunct my north node. In astrology, the North Node represents your soul’s evolutionary path and the lessons you’re meant to embrace in this lifetime. It points toward unfamiliar but growth-oriented experiences. It leads to your soul’s purpose, and it indicates a time or place of meeting destiny. When the nodes are squaring a planet, it indicates a time of decision… do you stay stuck in the past? Or do you lean into the future?
You feel it intuitively and (confirm it astrologically)
Many people know of the Atlantis story from Plato’s dialogues. Some believe he was talking about a mythical place, and others know it is not. I call the people I met in Egypt my Atlantis family because we all have memories of being there. But…. we could have all gotten swept up in an idea, a mythology…. However, I had powerful astrological proof.. I noticed that we all had significant connections to the Asteroid Atlantis…. ( after travel, but in my case I could have checked before travel) It was going over the midheaven in my chart and made a grand appearance in everyone else’s chart too… including Matias De Stephano’s, whose event I was going to attend!
You are comfortable with the risks and aware of potential challenges
In my post on what happened in Egypt, I shared the difficulties – I shared how I was surprised at the appearance of shadow or darkness. Pluto was another locational line that is highlighted in my locational chart for Cairo. Pluto really speaks of underworld experiences. It speaks of the use or misuse of power… Looking at this line, I wondered if Cairo was going to be dangerous for me…. In the end, there were shadow experiences, and it will also not surprise you that I met a woman who spent a lot of time telling me about who she thought was CIA. At the time, I thought she was a bit nutty and conspiratorial. But later I came across Edgar Cayce, the sleeping prophet’s, work. He described two groups of Atlantians. Both he described as highly advanced, one spiritual and the other power hungry. In his readings, he described the first group as “The Children of the Law of One.” This group was focused on spiritual growth and development. Important to them was a harmonious relationship with nature and living in accordance with natural laws. The second group, called “The Sons of Belial,” exploited natural resources and technological advancements of Atlantis, disregarding the consequences for the planet and its inhabitants. They were driven by a desire for power and control. He describes a technology called “The great crystal”. One group used the crystal for spiritual growth and the other for power. This led to the two groups fighting and eventually was responsible for Atlantis sinking.
When Plato described Atlantis, he was actually telling a cautionary tale. He thought of Atlantis as the lowest form of society compared to his visions of an ideal state. He saw them as fraught with hubris and moral decline. While Atlantis had once been a virtuous and prosperous society, it eventually became corrupted by greed, pride, and the pursuit of power. Power was misused in Atlantis. Some of us knew we misused power during that time, and others remembered trying to fight it! Though I didn’t know anything about my Atlantis connection before travelling, my Pluto lines warned me it might be challenging… from my perspective, however…. based on my nodes and Chiron, I was travelling to complete, remember or come face to face with karma…. I was okay with that risk.
I did worried a bit while there and after the fact about “doing the right thing”… I have realized that we were all there back then (in Atlantis), and we are all here now – the ones who did wrong and the ones who tried to save us from destruction – the ones who had the power and misused it and the ones who failed at avoiding disaster…. But I felt it was a risk I had to take….. even though I was unaware of the Atlantis connection before I left.
You are practical…
I brought flights that were easily changed, brought extra money, fortified my health and brought backup (it was COVID at the time)…. Saying yes to spiritual work also means being practical. I not only checked in with my astrology, but also what would keep me safe.
