Libra rules love, balance and relationships. It rules lawyers, judges, and mediators. It’s a sign of peace, but also war. There is a Venusian side that is very much about war. Inanna embodied both love and war. Later goddesses separated lover from warrior… Athena, Kali, Sekmet and Joan of Arc are the fierce feminine and are the warrior expressions of Venus. The Libra full moon is happening at 23 degrees of Libra. At this Libra full Moon we are searching for balance. But for that, we have to reach for the warrior side of Venus!
At this Full Moon, Venus is sextile to Uranus and making a finger of God with the Moon. A finger of God (also called a yod) is when there is a sextile between two planets and those two planets make an inconjunct (stressful aspect) with one other. The two planets in sextile get along, but the discordant energy to the third planet throws the energy off. This leads to things that just happen seemingly out of everyone’s control. Venus, Saturn, and the North Node combine their energy and sextile Uranus. They are working together to help us break free from an actual relationship or a relationship to something that has run its course. But with the tension to the Libra moon, you may not want to upset the apple cart or ruffle feathers. You may know you need to end something, but don’t want to feel the discomfort or pain. Maybe you are worried about how the other person will feel and you go to great lengths to be diplomatic and fair. Letting go of a relationship with a person or a thing, you worry that nothing will be there to replace it. You have a moment of thinking… maybe I don’t need this to end.
That’s where the boomerang comes in to help you. There is another version of a finger of God Yod, and it is called a boomerang yod. The planet that is at the apex receiving the tension has another planet opposite it. Imagine three kids, one of them has done something wrong and yet they are all being blamed. Two of them decide to blame the third, perhaps unfairly – they glance at him with evil eyes. In a yod he’s stuck… he has no way out of this tension. But with a planet opposite to that planet there is a “way out”! This is the situation at this full moon. Opposite the Libra moon is the Sun conjunct Chiron in Aries. The energy of the Sun conjunct Chiron in Aries speaks to a need to take care of ourselves; to heal our self-image, our wounds around our self-expression and how we exert ourselves. It also calls for us to love our physicality. Do we hate our bodies? Do we have a limp or a lisp that we are embarrassed by… things often make us feel unloveable and unworthy of what we truly deserve. Focus on healing those wounds!
There is one more tension that is present. Mars is in Cancer forming a T-square with the Full Moon. And the ruler of the Sun and Chiron is Mars…. We need need need to heal our anger. Check out my last post on the eclipse energy for tips on processing anger. If you are feeling anger, it’s likely because you need to process your anger and stand up for yourself. The Libra moon is also on a fixed star called Spica. It’s a beautiful fixed star that often pretends riches and good fortune, but in a square aspect to Mars it is said to be “the enmity of the people for fraud or embezzlement of public funds”. This suggests that someone may be extremely selfish and unfair to the point of taking what does not belong to them. This T-square also has a way out… the energy of Capricorn which is opposite to Mars in Cancer will help. Capricorn is prudent, structured and methodical AND Capricorn also rules the elderly. Seek out and lean on a wise elder for guidance and advice. Our elders are there for us right now. Support abounds!
The Sabian symbol is “ A third wing on the left side of a butterfly”. This suggests the development or mutation on the left side of our body – the feminine side. The classic interpretation of this symbol is about growing in love, but we can also view it as extra reinforcement, like a training wheel or something that is added that supports us…. maybe even a return to something that was there before, like the loving AND warrior side of Venus.
Happy Full Moon in Libra!
